Hi guys,

Thanks for reading,

I've received my Visa 😊 & I am looking for some clarification on my expiration date.

My Visa has an expiration date of 14th November, however I know the expiration date of the medical can affect the date. I had my medical on the 10th of Feb and the medical itself (the copy they gave me)has an expiration of the 31st of October.

I've read online that the medical is only valid for 6 months(meaning would expire in august), however mine seems to be valid for 8 months, (October) and yet my visa has a November date. I am planning to leave as soon as possible but I am waiting for a travel exemption to leave Aus and that seems to be a slow process.

I would love some clarification to ease my mind

Thanks for your time

T

The general rule is the visa expiration date is tied to the medical BUT....

  • The date can deviate from this rule if the attending civil surgeon finds it necessary.
  • The CO at the embassy as the leeway to extend or shorten the visa expiration date.
  • If there are medical reasons to deviate from this rule such as Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) for tuberculosis (TB).

You will use the validity date that is on the visa in your passport. Using it will not harm you in anyway. Good luck and stay engaged and safe travels.

Source?  For example, a Civil surgeon is not involved with visas so I question

YMMV

I meant to use the term "panel physician". Source: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/Intercountry-Adoption/Adoption-Process/how-to-adopt/medical-examination.html
