you could even try to time it so you could file before the 2 year mark since I think it applies to the day he gets the visa.

Snaps .... o well. I am just glad it is not in the 90s in Alger and my husband just had them install the English toliet ... no more squatting! So this wifey is happy! (for now) And I guess I will slowly but lazyily (sp?) worry about the proofs as we go along...since Alger is taking us for long ride I think.

I have never asked you how you got married Henia. Did you do it in ALGERIA? We tried in December and it was IMPOSSIBLE. I ended up having to go with him to TUNIS and marry him there with a BIG BIG BUNCH OF HASSLE. Its been drama after drama trying to get all the papers together and we had a 129 F but we jumped the gun before it was approved and married after an IMBRA denial. I just don't want to be stuck in the LONG HAUL. I have no idea how long its going to take for our I130 to go through and I am stressed beyond stressed trying to figure out what to do.. To go ahead with the I 130 or do the K3. At this point, I just want to be re united with him and live our lives and try to go foward. This is hell being apart and it is just so much pain for me to have waited all this time for the 129f , then have to start all over again.

What is the problem with Algiers and the consulate? Why are they giving you a hard time? What is going on? Should I have anything to worry about?

I know the couple of times that my husband has been to Casa they've really looked at the photos. We have lots with my family and his family and of us together and only a couple with our son as he's only seen him once for two weeks when we went for a visit. :(

As far as the emails, I've included them...even some of the "embarassing" ones. I figure, hey, if you want to know that much about our private life...then fine. Whatever it takes to show that we have a real marriage, you know?

I definitely think photos help.

Property ownership is good as well.

Allousa, as per the Moudawanat Alousra laws (same in most MENA countries, including Maroc) you are a foreign women cannot own property or inherit (everyone should read up on these laws). It would automatically go to the children, if any or the next-of-kin (brothers, father, etc) ... So even my husband and I are building a house. I will never own it (without children)

Wahrania, yes, I am one of the few who actually did get married in Algerie. And as you said, it is literally impossible. We went throu a long, hassle-full and full of anger 7 months of running around dairas, wilayas and the capital. Even thou we were equipped with the law book, all the nessaary documents as per the Moudawanat laws. Every time we went to the daira, anyone person "helped" us, telling something else. Basically the steps were: city/town police, police sending it to the wilaya, wilaya investigation (to see who you as the foreign are, and that the relation is true...not fraud...does that ring a bell? LOL) It made me wonder who in their right mind would want to "break" into Algerie? For sure not any American or European  Anyway, after the wilaya investigation, they sent it to the capital, for another investigation. They estimate this takes a month, max 2...but for all the people touching your case, that many delays you have. Everyone wanting a bribe. The first officer in the police station in Kolea, my town had our case sitting on his desk for 2 month cos my husband didnt want to give him any money. Finally we caved, and he moved it forward. After that I had my "interview" at the wilaya with the Gerdaimes which went well. Without any problems. Also all the investigation after were success. We finally got the approval document to be married. We then went throu a through medical exam including several blood test (HIV, anemia, blood test for possible disfects in future children, impotence, etc) which of course we passed. Then the file goes to the court, for the court's approval. Again here is where we had trouble...as one person said this, the other that...Finally 3 months of going daily to the daira begging the judge...convincing him our intent was real... believe me I cried, begged... we got approval for the marriage. A marriage that took 2 witnesses and less then 15m...all that work...

Wahrania, if you donnot mind for my curiousity could you tell me how you got married in Tunis? I am curious. I was told by one person you cannot, then by another that is easy. PM me if you like or here...

Alger has a new CO is much much more stricter... rumour is pretty close to Casa... but who knows... our petition is still in limbo. Not any cases coming out of Alger since the new CO...so we will see enchallah.

Hi well wahrania, to this day I still do not have my act d marriage even though I have my contract d marriage. They never mailed it to us. I have multiple contracts d mariage and from what I have read, one girl on here had her act d marriage and not her contract and they RFEd her for it. We had to leave before we got it. Now my husband is in ORAN and he to this day has not received it by mail from the person we asked to mail it. I think he will end up having to go back there and get it.

As far as getting married there? hell hell hell...

It was not easy and you can expect to need to be around there at least 3 weeks to pull it off. Algerians need a certificate of celebetaire. They need their birth certificate and if you have been divorced, you have to have all of that too. We tried 2 times to get married in Algeria and they would not let us. And then getting married in Tunis is a completely other story as well. I have my contract d marriage with all the stamps but still not my act d marriage. So that will somehow have to be gotten in person. HOW.. I DO NOT KNOW ... I guess Mohamed will have to go back to TUNIS to pick it up some how.

Esalaams Could you explain little more... I know someone who wanst to be married to an Algerian, and thinking Tunis might be better. She told me they need cert of celebetaire, as you said, passport and birth cert. We wonder (her for oblivous reasons, me for curiousity after my ordeal) which would be easier... Tunis or Algeria? I guess 3 weeks is better then my 7 months  I wonder if Algerians can marry in Maroc? My friend told me she emailed the Marocain consulate but got no reply. I am sure am glad I am done with the whole marriage deal

I wonder if my friend or her husband can contact your husband for further information? I am sure she would appreciate it! As NOTHING is clear in Algeria.
