I-864 and COVID-19

So we submitted the affidavit of support for my wife’s mother, the beneficiary.  It was under my name for the supporting side since I made more than enough to support both her parents, but due to COVID-19, my company laid off hundreds around the country including me.  I had already submitted the paperwork before I was laid off.  What will happen now?  Is NVC in understanding that this is something that I’m sure is happening to thousands of people?  They told me they will call me back to work once they recuperate the losses and get back to normal. (Yes my wife submitted one I-864 too, but she’s unemployed).

thanks for your help everyone!

At the interview, the CO may or may not request an updated I-864. She should have a backup I-864 from a suitable joint sponsor just in case.

Thank you for your input.  That’s what I’ll do, look for someone who can be our backup.
