Both of these forms require 2 passport-style photos to be included. Since I am submitting them together with the I-485 package, am I required to include a total of 4 photos?

Yes, as each submission must stand alone.

YMMV

Don't forget to file I-131. Even though it's not required, it's recommended to file since it's free, even with if you have no plans to leave the country. With the I-131, you will need 6 passport photos.

You’ll need 6 all up, if filing AOS, EAD and Travel Authority which is what most people file when adjusting status..

Thanks everyone! I'm not planning on leaving the country though so I won't be filing I-131.

Dang it. I was hoping I wouldn't need to get another set of passport photos.

That's what many people say until an unplanned emergency arises

YMMV

And they find out their definition of an emergency does not match USCIS'.

Or AOS processing could just take longer than expected and you decide you'd like to take an overseas vacation (even if just to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean) while you're waiting.
