Hi there,

I have few questions which are as follows.

1. My husband lives in US for more than 20 years and we both are divorcee. Me is in India. What do NVC or immigration people do normally check from both sides.

2. Do they check divorce decree only or they do check each and every document related to divorce.

3. What if ex- husband has file the divorce.

Plz answer on these questions urgently.

Both of you are required to provide a copy of a certified copy of the final decree of divorce.  In not in English, also a certified translation to English.  Also, not instead of.

Yes, as will the Consulate.  Send the correct document and all is well.

Hi thanks for your answer. Do NVC also clarify and inspect about the reason behind the divorce.

Hi

As I am from India and my divorce decree is from Australia. I never been to Australia. Will that be issue with NVC or immigration.

Thanks for your reply as well

What does this mean Absentee divorces are not that uncommon

A divorce being granted when one of the parties to the divorce is not present during the proceedings (i.e. absent).  They are not rare.  You are not the first one.

Thanks for your prompt information. So this is sure NVC and immigration will not check the background of the Divorce, only see valid certificate doesn't matter belongs to other country and also will see this as a valid divorce.
