Question on filling out DS-5540 for my parents

Hello,

 

I am currently working on  bringing my parents to the US and came acros the DS-5540 form.  After reading through the form I am more confused than ever as to how to even fill some of the information on the form.   Specifically when it comes to the insurance part.  The form specifically request that you specify the type of insurance AND the starting date of said insurance.  Since the form has to be provided PRIOR to the interview date, how are they expecting people to provide a date on someething that technically does not have one yet?

 

The content of this entire form seems to just be another Trump administration's attempt to curtail foreign immigration.....

Most insurance companies sell plans with a future start date (i.e. effective date) https://www.healthinsurance.org/faqs/if-i-enroll-in-the-exchanges-will-that-coverage-take-effect-immediately/

See above poster. You can also get insurance quotes and print them out so they can see you have been researching plans. 
As much as I hate Trump ; why should the petitioner not have to shoW how they will afford Their family members healthcare? It’s a serious cost in America that so many foreigners don’t understand and the whole “I’ll figure it out “ attitude shouldn’t fly. (Not saying you do- but we see it here so often on VJ) You are privileged having the option to petition for your parents - many countries don’t allow that. Something to keep in mind.
