Hi Everyone,

I would like to know if how long is the process of removal of conditional residence. Filed I-751 already and they just received it today. Any idea if when are they going to send notification and are they going to extend automatic because I am working so I am afraid that I may not be able to work continuously if they will not extend it. If extended, are they gonna send a letter? Once approved how long is the validity of the new greencard.

If they accept your petition they will send you an extension letter that is valid for 18 months from the expiration date on your greencard. So the proof of your status will be extended with 18 months. This letter together with your expired greencard is valid for work and travel etc, just like a normal valid greencard.

Once the ROC is approved you'll get a greencard that is valid for 10 years.

There are people who filed in February 2020 who already have their approvals. There are also people who filed back in 2017 who are still waiting. It's impossible to guess how long yours will take.

ROC is what you asked about. Removal Of Conditions.

Renewing DLs is a different procedure in different states. Here in CA you can renew it with a copy of the extension letter. I sent in my DL renewal by mail and forgot to send a copy of the extension letter, so my application was sent to DMVs legal presence department. All I had to do was call that department and the guy approved my renewal there and then, without even seeing the extension letter. That was in 2019 and my new DL is valid until 2022, so a lot longer than the extension letter.
