Congrats Empress!!! Per a rep at the NVC today; we did not get scheduled for an August interview and the scheduling for August has been done. Scheduling for Sep 07 will start the 2nd week of August. So I should call back the 3rd week in August for a status. This timframe will put us at the end of the 8 weeks the NVC state I should have received additional instructions when our case was completed on Jun 25.:wacko:

I'm sorry Jen  but I'm sure you won't have to wait the 6 (will be 7+ by interview) months we did. Just hang in there and I will be pullng for you next month. I really think this new NVC system is going to make things a lot easier. and cheaper too since you won't have to call the embassy long distance. Also it's better since you have an idea when to call the NVC back and no calling haphazardly every couple days.

Spend the time getting docs in order, your home in order, your bed :P etc. I've been planning to purge some papers on my dining table for weeks. Today I went to walmart bought a clear container and did the darn thing. I also reorganized my book shelf (been meaning to do that for over a year). Just keep busy. The last few weeks have been so frustrating, more frustrating than the last 5 months put together. I still can't believe it. But trust me the date will come

Although it's not required the Kingston Embassy STRONGLY recommends the petitioner to attend the interview. It's the BEST proof anyone can possibly provide. Even though my funds are tight I'm going to to the interview. I might have to beg on the street corner but I'm going nonetheless. I'm going to start a fund to help support the cause

it seems that I missed something  ...first time i hear that NVC shedules the interview date..i thought that after case is complete and send to embassy they will tell the date of interview...or maybe it depends on country? hmmm..

Originally, the NVC would send the Jamaican I-130 cases to the Kingston embassy, where they would schedule the interview. Just last month, they changed the policy and many of the documents that we would collect to take with us to the interview, they requested it be sent to them, so they could complete the case.

It may be specific countries that they have started this process with, so maybe for Poland they are not doing this.

Hey Milan it is recommended (for some highly recommended) that the spouse/fiance attend the interview. The petirioner is always allowed to attend interviews with the beneficiary. I'm pretty sure I will be going with him. We or he just has to sort out the money. I want him to have enough for the medical plus extra if he needs shots and money to file waivers if needs be :( . That's about $800 I want him to have upfront. Then we will focus on my ticket. We've been married 4 1/2 years and I go home up to 7 times a year so I don't think they will doubt our relationship. But I really would prefer to be there than not. B)

Yes every country is different. NVC just made Kingston, Jamaica an Appointment Post in June. I know they also made several changes w/other Embassies as well. You can check out this website http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrant.../info_3176.html to see what the requirements are for your country.

JA Tam,

Have you heard anything about your case? I am going to give the NVC to mid August to provide me with an interview date after which I will be engaging my congressman. My 1st issue is that the NVC impose the new process on my case before it actually went into effect. The additional info was requested on May 22 but the process did not change until Jun 1 and the website was not update until after June to reflect the new process. I understand all the red tape but we do pay a lot of money for these visas and the expectation would be for all government agencies to do their job correctly. I apologizes for venting. Just when it seems like we were so close to be thru this incredibly long maze then our case get delay ...:wacko:

I understand the frustration; it's been quite an ordeal and having these additional unknowns have complicated the process even more so. Since hearing that the case has been complete, I haven't heard anything more. I figured I would hold tight until mid-August to see if they interview has been scheduled. If they don't schedule it in August, I am all for contacting my congressman and senator. You make a very valid point in reference to the new guidelines and in a country that should be on top of changes in technology, I would expect that they would update their website as soon as the changes were made. Also, if the changes came into effect in June, you should not have been subjected to it as well. The only thing is, we do not know if this change may end up being an improvement over the old way. Also, if you had not been subjected to the change, you may have ended up with a similar situation as Empress. We never know.

My other concern outside of the interview scheduling is the time it is taking for them to deliver the passports with the visa stamp. Looking at some of the timelines, it is taking much longer than the 4 - 6 business days after the interview as indicated on the website. But, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Remember they say it is always darkest before the dawn. We are almost at the end of the journey, so don't let it get you down. We have a few weeks before we hear anything more. If I hear anything before that, I'll let you know.
