Removing "valid only with DHS authorization"from SS

Im a conditional green card, how can I remove the "valid only with DHS authorization from my SSN??

 

If I go to the SS office, what documents should I bring?? Do I have to pay any fee to remove that? tsk

Take your green card. No fee

Take green card and passport as sometimes they ask for two IDs. Shouldnt cost anything. Use the receipt they provide for your job/hiring and you will get a new SSC in the mail

I agree with the excellent responses you have received. Just want to add 2 more points of info:

1. Your green card is your DHS authorization, so your green card + your current SS card = proper documentation to work in the US

2. If you do choose to go to the SS office to get a card without the annotation on it, they will make you forfeit your old card. This will leave you without any SS card until the new one arrives in the mail.

Number 2 is incorrect at least in our case after they processed our papers they returned the old SSC. We applied for the name change via USPS. It's a gamble yes, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
