So we ran into a problem where we were approved federally on March 17th. the national visa centre has not been in contact with us until beginning of may  when we had to track them down.then  and then they went on to say that my birthday( and they gave me the date which was correct )did not match my passport which was correct it was 100% matching. they asked us to send a copy of my passport and we did and they didn't contact us back again, we had to hunt them down and then they just said we haven't gotten you a consulate office yet and I've had zero contact from them or anyone else. We are getting extremely frustrated I still can't even log into the national Visa website because they say that mine or my fiance's birthdays don't match the receipt number. To me this is extremely Shady seems how it took over five months to get approved federally anybody know what's going on or who I can call?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I just find it silly because after talking to Border Services, if the visa centre would have at least sent me my welcome package they could have done something with  it and let me cross at the border so it's extremely frustrating and the national visa centre is still working so I can't understand why they haven't contacted us to ask for more info, or how it could be approved federally then the nvc says birthday is wrong as they give me my correct birthday. and we have had to contact them each step.

Petition approval is not a visa to cross the border.  What is it you want really ?

Sounds like they spoke to CBP? after talking to Border Services,  (spoke to CBP who said) if the visa centre would have at least sent me my welcome package they could have done something with  it  (I assume 'they' refers to the Embassy and 'it' refers to issuing the visa) and let me cross at the border (allowed entry with visa).... Because border services cant do anything with your welcome packet. You certainly can not use your welcome packet to enter the US. I guess whoever they spoke to was just being sympathetic and agreed that yes it stinks that they didnt get their welcome packet yet because you need the welcome packet to be able to move forward. So if only they send one things could move forward already.

To the OP- you have to realize when theres an error it will cause delays. Generally speaking immigration has a standard response period of 30/60/90 days. Meaning when you send something you can expect to wait 30/60/90 days for a response and vice versa- you get the same amount of time to respond to them. It can feel like its an excessive amount of time you have to wait for them because honestly how long does it really take to correct something? A few minutes? But I am positive you would be freaking out if they ask you for something and tell you you have 48hrs to get it!

You can reach out to your congressperson. Search VJ for info on how to do that if you need to. They can inquire for you and help get it sorted but again its going to take time. Most likely they will inquire and the response will be that it is being fixed and to give it 30/60 days. But definitely reach out to them for help and confirmation that its being fixed.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

This makes ZERO sense. Maybe you should read up on the entire k1 process and take note that the entire world is going through a pandemic. So add a few more months on to whatever timeframe you read.

A few more months?  I would add a few more years.  As of today, we are 3 years, 2 months, and two weeks waiting for a “K-1 based” green card.   To give you some background, my Mexican spouse is a former US embassy employee in leadership who had been background checked yearly by the state department.  I say humbly we are wealthy individuals.  USCIS’ current “reasoning” for the delay in issuing the green card is that they are waiting for background checks and only approving wealthier individuals.  Check, check.   We’re good, right? Um.  No.  So let’s be realistic. Anyone awaiting any step in the K-1 process should lower their expectations regarding timelines.  Then lower them more.  A bit lower than that.  Now cut those lowered expectations in half.  Cut them in half again.  Ok.  Now you’re living in reality.

One case doesn't make a trend it's called an outlier.
