I just was informed by the Asiana Airlines that a thai national with a thai passport is not allowed to enter the United States, even if they are a wife of a US citizen or an LPR..

Maybe this is old news, but my plans to leave next week have been wrecked as they will not let my thai wife with a US visa travel to the USA till June,30, 2020.. I guess I have to find another way home...

This will be the 3rd cancellation for us and my wife's visa expires on the 4th of July...Very disappointing thatI was never informed of it by the airlines or the travel agency...

The US is allowing anyone that has a valid US VISA to enter by air as long as they are not coming from, or transited, a listed country for the 14 days prior to entry.

The airline is incorrect on two counts, as (1) there is no travel ban from Thailand (assuming the ticket is not transiting a banned country) and (2) a spouse of usc/LPR is exempt from any such ban anyway. I’m not entirely sure how you argue this with them but I’d suggest going up the chain of command at Asiana and insisting they speak to their CBP liaison. Did they just send a form email, or what?

  • 2 weeks later...

I had called them twice and they had insisted that my wife would not be allowed to transit with her Thai passport...I could not argue with them any further and risk them turning her away..Needless to say, we were in disbelief!! A friend on VJ also called them and were told the same thing!!

They cancelled our flight and I had to make new reservations with Cathay Pacific, paid quite a bit more, but we are scheduled to fly through Hong Kong on June 21..Hope for better results....Thanks for your advise!!!
