Hi @khadijamome

That last updated date of June 1, 2020 and the status of refused sure looks official.  I am sorry, but to my understanding your case has been refused.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/administrative-processing-information.html  explains that there is a process you can begin by reading the section "Can a refusal under section 221(g) be overturned?" Potentially some important document was not filed in time.

Heyy I was given a 221g after my interview. And approx 3 weeks later I got a DS5535 for my brother. We emailed them back and received email that they received it and that they will review it. We have not received any email as of now. Now after 1 june all our family members have this short version of message under refuse status except my brother who recieved ds5535. He still has the long version. Its very confusing. What should I do. Should I mail and ask about my status or what.

PS my category is F4.

Contact the consulate for a specific reason for the refusal (even if it's just the INA section).

My guess is that background checks completed (the cause of AP before), but you were now refused under INA 212(f)...specifically, the recent EO banning all immigrant visas (with some exceptions, but F4 generally does not qualify for an exemption).

But they should atleast let us know. Or they should email us. And they are not receiving calls or replying to emails. What should I do ? I am so confused about my case.

The only people who will know thew answer are at the consulate. You will need to reach them somehow. I get that it's frustrating and they are very slow to respond (especially right now as routine visa processing is suspended, although Pakistan has always been slow to respond), but just keep trying as only they will be able to tell you.

A formal refusal letter should be provided, although I don't know the normal means for Pakistan to send it post-interview, nor how long it takes.

Found this for you  https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-221ginfo.asp  although not an official resource the following seems to apply.

Refusal under section 221(g) means that essential information is missing from an application or that an application requires additional administrative processing. The consular officer who interviews you will tell you at the end of your interview if your case is being refused under 221(g). The consular officer will either tell you that the case has to undergo administrative processing, or will ask you to submit additional information.

If further information is required from you, the consular officer will tell you how to submit that information. When your visa application is refused under section 221(g), you will be given a written letter notifying you of the visa refusal and will have 12 months from that date to submit the requested documents without having to reapply and without having to pay a new visa application fee. If you do not submit the requested documents within one year, your applicant may be terminated per section 203(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

If the Embassy or Consulate requested additional information or documentation from you, you must submit those documents.

So you are still able to make an effort to continue the process as this refusal is not the final decision.   Good luck to you, @khadijamome

They gave us a questionnaire for mu brother. The ds5535 supplemental questions. We completed it and emailed them back. And they even gave us an email of getting the email. They have not requested for anything else. So how does this apply to me.

It applies to you since it is the method outlined for refusals.  As in most cases not all scenarios can be answered with one explanation.  I am just guessing here but it could have been that he did not put N/A in all the empty spots or he made a clerical mistake like a name or year or an address could not be found.  Too many things but the one thing for sure is that after you reach out to the Consulate they will have the answers that you can't find here.

Since your brother had to fill out DS5535 it more than likely is rooted with something within that form. Google reports that DS 5535 is a security check form issued by the US embassy at the time or after your visa interview. It is meant for extra security checks primarily meant to scan the last 15-year history of your travel, employment, and residence.  That's a lot of history and he didn't explain lapses in the history i bet that would have impacted the decision.

Did you receive email from the consular regarding to this?

It is the method outlined for INA 221(g) refusals. There is no way to know if that is the OP's current reason for refusal.

That is possible, but honestly very, very few people are refused as a result of the DS-5535.

Much more likely is that they submitted the DS-5535 and the case went into background checks. Once those checks completed, they evaluated the case to determine their eligibility to the visa. Something came up as a reason for refusal...possibly an outdated medical or form, possibly  some other inadmissibility of the primary beneficiary, etc. And if no other issues were found, the visa would be refused under INA 212(f), per the EO banning F4 visas: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/737815-official-executive-order-for-suspending-entry-of-immigrants/

In the end, the visa could only be refused once that EO became effective. It's just a matter of getting to the point where everything else is cleared before they would refuse under that.

This. Wouldn’t all F4 go into refused currently simply because the currently active EO suspends visa issuance? We have little to go by at the moment but I believe this is what happened for previous suspensions/bans.

Not saying that OP has nothing pending that the embassy would still need, but from my understanding “ready” is impossible at the moment since no visas can be granted for this category.
