Visa application extension

can someone please help. my fiancé's petition has been approved April 2019 and we are at the stage of visa processing at the embassy. but due to unforeseeable events(ie multiple deaths in the family on both sides), we decided to delay processing since we thought that getting married around this time would be inappropriate. I know that they automatically extend the status for up to 1 year so I thought it would be okay. We paid for the interview fee around November 2019 so they would not think that we abandoned the case. my fiancé was supposed to have his interview on april 16 but it got cancelled due to the community quarantine and now our case has expired. can I still ask for extension from the embassy? if so, how do I do that? thank you in advance for your input.

Technically K1's do not exceed 1 year... Since you talk about marriage I assume that is a K1 petition. Maybe you can push the argument of Covid-19 since embassies are closed anyway but there is no guarantee. You need to contact your local embassy and NVC

You paid your visa fee in November 2019, the fee is valid for one year so by November 2020 that will be invalid.   If you haven't completed the interview before the one year date of paying the fee you will be .. SOL

Extending the petition validity had always been "automatic" with USEM, but a month the embassy sent out this information for extending the petition validity.

Petition Validity
Your NOA2 has a 4 month validity.  If your visa application process takes longer than the 4 months the petitioner should email the the embassy requesting they extend the validity of the petition:  support-philippines@ustraveldocs.com to request for the extension.  Make sure to include your MNL#.

Yup I am a K1 filer. I did contact NVC. I sent an email to all the visa related email address I found. They were actually quick with their response. They said, "if the petition is expired, the applicant is still able to proceed with an interview and the determination will be made at that time. The revalidation happens, when approved, at the time of interview, not in advance."

Thanks!

Hopefully the covid lockdown won't extend until November 2020. We are ready for the interview by now. Just need to complete medical at slec on june 8. i check for interview slots opening everyday.

Now I'm worried. Is the one year visa fee validity applicable for F2B as well? We paid the visa fees since 21 July  2019.
