Hey everyone! My GC expires September 10, 2020 and I'm still waiting for my official receipt notice. Here's the timeline:

Application sent: June 12, 2020

Application received by USCIS: June 19, 2020

Got text update from USCIS: June 22

Received notice waiving biometrics (dated June 30): July 4th

Lawyer received curtesy copy of receipt (dated July 1s): July 7th

I still haven't received the official notice despite getting the document waiving fingerprints and my lawyer getting the receipt copy. I'm traveling on July 28 and will be back Sep 6 before GC expires but would still like to have the original notice with me. Would anyone have any insights? xo

Seems like it is taking too long 😒 Though you still have time till July 22nd(one month since Your receipt date).Btw Which office u got in your receipt number??

If it is the NOA, that’s your extension letter. It should say that it‘s your proof of status for 18 months.

Thank you for the reply. My NoA just says that I do not need to appear for a biometrics appointment. I do not see anything about extending my status for 18 months. So, that is why I was wondering if they were going to send something else in the mail. thank you!

Not at all ! check hasn't cashed yet. No notif no nothing :( it is 1 week now but I am trying to calm myself and thinking " okay it was 4th July and mostly Gov office closed on 3rd July so..when my letter received on the 30rd then they will forwarded to the USCIS office by the 1st the earliest and until they sort it out all the letter maybe the 2nd it came to the division or something ..so I am trying to calm :D it is hard though lol

Thank you for your prompt answer-we are only one day apart then. I was reading through all the timeline essentials from aprilmayjune on here and I got nervous. Totally forgot about 4th of July with Friday likely off. I’m more worried over stuff like having flipped a number on the credit card form or a person sending me back my package because they are unwilling to remove my post it sticky that I have put on my forms displaying name and a-number or whatnot. One never knows..🤷🏻‍♀️

timeline (ROC):

06/29/2020 - package sent with USPS to Dallas lockbox

07/01/2020 - package delivered and signed for

07/08/2020 - CC charged

07/10/2020 - text message received

Then no, that’s not the NOA. The letter you received is the biometrics notice, which is another letter altogether. The NOA  being referred to here will specifically say that your conditional residence status has been extended for 18 months or something to that effect. It’s a bit confusing I know, since technically any letter or notice we receive in this process is a “Notice of Action” or NOA.

Please anyone can help me answer this question. My husband helps me translate the questions and fill out the I -751 form. Does he need to have a interpreter degree or certificate or something like that to translate the questions in the form to me?  thank you.

I dont think so, he's just helping you out with the questions. Do you need his help to translate the questions word by word or just the overall meaning of the questions?

just overall meaning of the questions. I can read and understand basic English words. Some new and hard words my husband translate  to me. He also have experiences filling out forms so I let him translate and fill out the form for me. If so he must sign the form as an interpreter right? I want to ask if he help me translate the form as the interpreter. Does USCIS need him to go with me as an interpreter to the biometric and interview (if any) ?

Hey @TonyK I would suggest have ur mother write an Affidavit staying that you and Your wife live there from the date## and the details that your don't have to pay the lease or the rent as You are living with family. If u both have driving license or state I.d,try including that atleast to show u both have same address .And if you can Get doctor's note that would be fine .if not then u can add by yourself the details that you two are expecting a new member Soon in your cover letter. That will be fine too 🙂Hope it helps.Best of luck

Thanks a lot! with things like our bank statement or credit card statement... how far back should we go? 3 or 6 months?

Honestly, I'm not so sure he needs to sign as the interpreter for that. He needs to sign the Spouse section, but if he was just helping you fill out the form, then it's just a normal process of filling out stuff together. Did he sign as your interpreter when you filled for Adjustment of Status (I-485)?

I'm no lawyer haha but it just seems he was simply helping you out, which is fine because you 2 are supposed to sign that form, so he does need to be aware of the questions and all that. :)

But, perhaps you can check with an immigration lawyer if you are still unsure. :)

I have entered the US with cr1 visa, i never heard about I-485 form, when filed for cr1 visa, my husband paid the attorney to fill out the forms. I checked it and find out they just signed in Preparer section on those forms. Not signed in Interpreter section.
