Does anyone know if we can complete the DS-160 before our packet is sent from the NVC to the Sydney Embassy?  Just wondering if we can get going on the rest of the process as soon as the NVC acknowledges they received our packet?

You will need your NVC number to fill out the DS-160. When was your NOA2? Mine was Feb 16th.

Hi Group,

I have my CR1 visa interview today at US Consulat in Sydney. After the visa interview the officer said my case will be sent to Washington for further review, however he still kept my passport.

What does this mean? The CEAC case status is administrative processing.

Does that mean the case will be further reviewied by USCIS in Washington and they may refuse the visa?

Please share your experiences.

Thanks

Hi. My husband had his interview today too and the same happened/he heard the same thing. But the officer also made it very clear that the visa was approved (he specifically said those words). So let me know when your status changes!

@mpandmg0523Thanks for your reply. I surely will post an update if the status changes. Please do the same, in case there is any update.

Thanks a lot.

Hi All,

My wife recently had her interview on March 16 where the officer let her know that the visa would technically be refused as she did not have her medical yet.  The officer, however, did take her passport and let her know that it would be approved pending medical.  Right after the interview she was able to get a medical appointment with Dr. Rappaport and the medical report was submitted to the consulate on March 19th.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the consulate to review the medical report to get the visa to approved status?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if the Embassy schedules our interview for us or if we go online to schedule it ourselves?  Also, there seems to be some conflicting information on various government websites.  Does anyone know if we're indeed supposed to create an account on this website: http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/au/index.html ?

Thanks so much for all the useful info!

The embassy will normally schedule on your behalf, I didn't create an account for that. NVC, USCIS and US consulate has plenty of information on steps about an application.

With Delta to JFK. I've heard the horror stories about AA and United. I had a really good experience with Delta so if I have to fly through California they are my first choice. I'd prefer to fly direct into JFK if I can find a flight with a short layover on the date I want.

Hi,

though it is case by case, do you mind sharing your experience? My final destination will also be JFK and am looking through options ahead of time.

Hi guys anyone received interview letter recently from Sydney consulate plz share

My husband just got his scheduled yesterday for 20 April - IR-1 visa. But I ended up contacting a senator in my home state two days before and then reached out to the embassy. It could have been a coincidence but I don’t it.

Hi,

I'm on the same boat. did you do your medical in Melbourne by any chance?

My wife had her medical done in Sydney on the same date as her interview (March 16).  It took two days as well for the doctor to send the medical to the consulate and her visa was approved on March 28, Visa received in hand on March 29 (sent to Melbourne).  Plan for her to fly this coming Monday on American (April 5).

We've also flown a number of times on United and never had any bad experiences especially during the past year.  I've flown to/from Australia twice during the past year and never had an issue with United.  Landing in SFO and LAX.

Australian travel exemptions came within 24 hours for her (Australian citizen) as well as me (US Citizen) to enter the country using their new online system.
