Hi all,

On a seperate note, just a question all who are moving to US from Australia, how are you managing to take all your luggage along? I mean the airlines, only allow 2 bags (if i am not wrong 23 kgs each). And any additional checked baggage costs $200 USD.

I also checked a few luggage transfer websites and those work out to be even more expensive.

Just to get some insights, how everyone is managing to take all their stuff along?

Thank you.

Any others DQ'd and waiting to hear if NVC has received their expedite request? We send ours a week ago and haven't heard anything yet. I called NVC and they say they are receiving a huge amount right now (which makes sense). It'd be nice to hear from others who have recently submitted when they get confirmation and/or an answer!

Anyone here waiting for the interview?

My expedite interview was approved 10 days ago and I'm waiting for the email from the consulate.

@Jean SilvaHave you got your interview date? After how many days did you get it, if yes after expedite approval? Thank you.

Oh wow. Have you not even gotten confirmation that they received it? We got DQ'd 2/12 and sent our expedite request 2/19. Waiting for confirmation that they've even received it. I'll keep you posted for sure, and you do the same too please!

@Jean Silva Congrats! How did you schedule your medical since they ask for an interview confirmation before scheduling the medical? Could you please share your timeline from NVC Expedite Approval --->Case received at Syd--->Medical--->interview date

Hello,

When I received the date of the interview, I contacted the doctor and scheduled the exam. I took the exam last week.

My timeline:

3 Feb - I received the result the expedite
11 Feb - I received an email stating that the case was sent to the consulate
15 Feb - I received the interview date (2 March)
19 Feb - I had medical exams

We moved with just two big suit cases and a carry on each.   Unless you can find a reasonable cost to ship your things, you may be better off selling it in Aus and purchasing it again in the US.

Hi guys, I had my medical exam done with Dr Rappaport AFTER my interview, so I brought a photocopy of my passport (since the US Consulate has the original) and my physical driver’s licence to verify my identity. The e-Medical infornation sheet sent from the panel physician to the consulate says that my “identity document presented” was my licence, NOT my passport. Has this been an issue for anyone else?

I think so. As i feel paying the shipping cost is not worth. The stuff is not as much as the transport cost. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey all, Im a K1 applicant and just received my approval notice. Waiting for my NVC number, it has only been 10 days.

I was wondering if the Sydney consulate is processing visas or will I have to think of a way to expedite it?

They are processing K-1s. I couldn't say how long it will take between your NOA2, case number etc. because mine happened over the holiday period where everything takes more time. I can tell you that once Sydney request the case, the time between that and the arrival of your paperwork at the Consulate is short - about a week. My interview was scheduled for just over a week after they received everything they needed from us. We did not request an expedite. Your mileage will vary.
