Australians Waiting For Interview at US Consulate Sydney

My Social Security also arrived 1st February and I arrived on the 18th January says issued 19th January.

My husband arrived Nov 20. He did not automatically receive his SS card although we indicated for this to happen with his immigration paperwork. We had to arrange an appointment with Social Security which he had on January 8. Card arrived in the mail about 10 days later. It's a relief to finally be able to carry on a normal life!

I have a question about paying the $ 220 green card fee.

 

Is it paid after the interview? Do I pay directly at the consulate or pay online?

It's paid after the visa is issued. It can only be paid online at uscis.gov: https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee

An update for anyone about to go through the tail end of this process:

 

Medical finally submitted on 3/2. CEAC went from Refused to AP on 3/2. Last updated on 4/2 but no status change. Currently still AP, so I'm assuming it will probably stay there until next Thursday 11/2

Alright team, visa was officially issued today!!

Total application processing time has been 19 months, with expedite from NVC to consulate. 
This information is also important as there's been a rumour floating around on here that visas are only printed on Thursdays at Sydney at the moment, and clearly either that has recently changed or it was never the case.

I applied for an expedite in December  around the 14th they approved on the 20th then I received an email to set up the interview on the 30th. The soonest interview slot they had available was Feb 2nd.

I would look at United, Delta or American Airlines. Those three go straight to SFO or LAX from Sydney and are the quickest to the US. I am trying to avoid layovers in other countries because of different covid requirements so I think the easiest way to get to the US is to go straight from Sydney.

Congratulations Erin. Back in November my husband's visa was printed on the day of interview (Tuesday) and he got it in the mail the next day (at the hotel down the street).

My husband flew United from SYD to SFO. No hassles and a relatively quick interview in secondary on arrival with plenty of time to make his connection.
