Hi All, I received the email saying my case was expedited (didn't request it) and that the embassy will contact with an interview date, I received this 6 days ago...my case status on ceac is "ready". I read on a different thread that you have to get your medical before they will schedule you an interview...is that true? I thought you did a medical after you get an interview date...Just wondering if I need to do anything or just wait for an email from the sydney consulate. Thank you for your help!

Are you from vic ?

also how did you check your status ?

I have the same situation and I called the medical centre but they said my name has to be on their system so they can schedule an appointment for me so they suggested that I sent them an email with all my details and they will let me know if I can do the medical appointment or I have to wait.

Hi Eisa

I spoke to sonic health in CBD melbourne and they said they can schedule my appointment without the email as they only need case number and DS number, so if you are planning for the medical you can call them and book an appointment, for my I will go once I get the interview date

We flew Sydney to LAX via United on 12 November.  The plane had probably only 40 to 50 people, the section in front of us only had two people, and in our section most of the rows only had 2 people each.  When we checked in the lady offered us aisle seats in the rows across from each other so we each had a row of 3 to stretch out/lie down on.  There were were no families travelling that I could see, and so it was a very quiet flight.

Thanks Sharni! That’s great to know. I was trying to work out if it was worth buying premium economy as not much of a price difference between economy. But if I can hopefully get a whole row to myself, then I won’t bother with an upgrade. Can’t wait to get on the plane. 😊

Hi tdrysdael,  from what I've been reading in other posts, it you got an expedite without requesting it, you could contact the embassy via email and confirm they are preparing to send  you an interview invitation.    You don't have to get your medical before they will schedule you an interview.  You only need your DS number.   You do need to be careful with booking the medical before you know for sure that your interview is imminent, because if the worst happens and there is an outbreak and the embassy closes or stops scheduling interviews then your medical could lapse before your appointment.  The medicals only last 6 months, and then you would need repeat the process and pay again.  I would definitely check with the embassy first.  Good luck.

Hi Everyone,

Reached Sydney 🙂

Just a small question: We can't take any electronic device like mobile with us?

And We don't have the safekeeping box provided by the embassy to keep our stuff?

Thanks

As a woman, I had a small handbag that I left my phone and other items in at Security on Floor 10.  You can't take a big bag, no other electronic devices etc with you.  A lady ahead of me tried to take in her lap top bag, she was sent away to store it somewhere else.   The safekeeping box at security is more like a little container/crate type of thing.  From memory, is not "locked" away, but it is on a shelf behind the security people.  They give you a little tag to hold and give back to them when you return to Floor 10.

Good luck!

Hi Everyone,

How many days I can expect to get my passport back on my Melbourne Address?

Thanks

That depends on if you're approved at the interview.  I was and mine was posted back to me immediately and I got it 4 days after the interview.   If the visa approval is pending a medical or other info, then it would take longer.  They say it could take up to two weeks.

Update on Expedite.

October 28th- Sent Expedite request

Nov 11th - Recieved approval notice

Nov 19th - Received interview invitation letter *

Nov 23rd -Recieved Date of Interview.

8th December - Interview Day

* I chose Option 1 ( to have next available interview ) with request for it to be scheduled after Dec 7th. I need time to organize the medical, for borders to open and fly to Sydney.

I was able to book my medical in Melbourne without an interview date. But did need to provide the DS160 number. Wait time for next available medical appointment was 1 week.

Does anyone else have their interview on December 8th?

Hi @BLST

I am looking into doing an expedite request for our case. I notice we have very similar timelines. Can you share how you went about it and what reason you used? Appreciate any help!!

Thanks

Gday Everyone,

We have been waiting now from April 2020 at NVC stage. I sent an expedite request 2wks ago and got this in return.

I rang and spoke with the Sydney Embassy who told me that K1's are being processed and I just have to wait.

Who do we believe? Embassy or NVC??

This is really becoming a frustrating process.
