Hi sharni

Can I ask which documents do we need to take for the interview ? I mean do I need the W2 form of my wife as well or not ?

When you receive the email with the interview date and time, you will get a cover sheet.  You need to bring all the documents they list on there.  Sounds like your wife is the American, so I would think that her W2 was used to show that she could support you?  I would say on that basis, definitely yes.    I took everything (and more than just what was on the cover sheet) although I am sure they didn't even look at the tax returns for my husband.  He didn't have W2s because he had been in Australia for the last 3 years.  Better to have too much, than too little.

Kunnu, I hope you only bought 1, not 10. lol   That size will do.  I was confused too when I went to Aus Post.  As it turned out the medium package is bigger than you need, but the Consulate took it without comment and used it ok.  It appears that the Consulate in Sydney don't usually mail anything other than the passport back to you.  There was mention on some sites that you will get a sealed package to bring with you to the USA.  I don't believe that's the case from the Sydney Consulate.  From what I've read from most people, it's usually just the passport, and sometimes a letter.  Although for me, the letter was emailed.  The letter from the Consulate is to show the Australian Border Force that you are permitted to travel (this is in addition to the exemption that you must request from the Australian Department of Home Affairs: https://travel-exemptions.homeaffairs.gov.au/tep).  I had the letter with me at Sydney Airport for the flight to the US, but I wasn't asked for it.

For question number two, they will look at the originals and then hand them back to you.  They will keep the copies of originals of the important items such as birth, divorce, marriage certificates etc.  A lot of my copies were returned to me, but it's best to have copies of everything though, just in case.

Thanks for the info.

Yes I only purchased only 1 🙂

How long it takes the consulate to send an email to schedule the interview after I got an email that my expedite was approved ( I didn’t even apply for expedite ) ?

thanks

It was the same for me, I too never applied for the expedite.

And for the interview appointment email, it depend on case to case but I got the interview appointment email in 2 weeks.

I had my interview on the Tuesday and my passport was in the mailbox on Friday, so pretty quick!  It's usually less than a week, but they tell you it could be up to 2 weeks, so don't book flights too soon!

Hi Everyone,

I have few questions:

1- I have received an email saying my expedite got approved and I didn’t apply for an expedite at all I am from Melbourne so should I book the medical appointment or should I wait for an email from the consulate to schedule the appointment for me and then book the medical ?
2- how many weeks in advance the consulate schedule your appointment after they sent you the email or you got the option to book any day ?

thanks

Hi, this is maybe a stupid question but people here often talk about waiting and watching for their status to change.

Where is it that you guy/gals check this?

I ask because in my ceac even though I got denied, nothing there has changed it only shows where the the case is (Sydney) My question is because I see no change, nothing and yet my tracking number for the post pack is not showing as sent yet to tell me my passport is being returned, Just nothing.

Any ideas please.

Hi Eisa, sorry I cant answer the one about the expedite thing it seems a few are getting that message now.

As for the medical, not sure about in Melbourne but when I booked mine in Sydney I had to send through the letter/email showing the embassy interview date to be able to book the medical.

As you know I did the whole quarantine thing, Once I landed in Sydney I answered the email and didnt really pick an option of 1, 2, or 3. I just let them know when I would be out of quarantine and they set the very next available date.

Hi John,  I didn't even know there was a visa status check site till after I had the interview, so I was even more clueless.   A quick google while I was waiting in quarantine in Brisbane back in September sent me to this link:

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

Hope it's what you're looking for.
