Congrats!

next step is for the consulate to contact you. For us that took about 3-4 days. They’ll send you an email with three options for scheduling your interview.

I’m also in Melbourne! How great is the border opening news?! Have you booked in your medical yet?

Thank you for the info. 😊 No I haven’t booked my medical just yet, as was waiting for the interview date first.  But I guess it wouldn’t make much difference if I did the medical soon.  Do you mind letting me know, which Dr you went to in Melbourne? Originally I had planned to go to one in Sydney.

And yes hooray for borders opening! It’s been a torturous time in Melbourne! But the now rewards of 0 cases, are worth it.

Hey!

Oh, I haven't had my medical yet. We're looking to try and get an interview around the end of December, so I'll be trying for a medical in a couple of weeks. I think I'll be going to the Toorak one.

Ah ok. Are there no interviews earlier? I was hoping to leave Melbourne on the 27th Dec, the latest. From what you know, do you think that is possible?
I’m getting impatient now! Lol Still on a high from the good news today.

I know the Toorak medical centre needs about a week's notice to book an appointment. If you contact the consulate and ask for the next available appointment after the 23rd, once you receive your invite, it could be anywhere up to straight away, or a few weeks. It depends on the backlog.

There's definitely a chance you could leave Melbourne by then, but there's also a few things that could delay the process with that short of a timeframe so, don't bank on it. Be as flexible as possible.

Thanks Erin. I appreciate your advice! It helps to be able to try and preempt the next stage. Will continue to update when I know more.

Hi guys,

Just a quick little update, I flew into the US on the 8th had no issues.

The airports are a bit more busy than I would have expected. I traveled through a few airports to get to my final destination and everyone was social distancing and wearing masks as it was mandatory, made me feel a lot more comfortable with traveling.

I also want to take a quick moment to thank everyone here for all the support and help through this tough long journey, there were a lot of times I felt like giving up but all the help, motivation, information and community we have here has helped me push through. I can't wait for all of you  still waiting to feel a sense of relief and be home with your loved ones, don't give up keep push and soon you will have this all behind you.

Hi Jem, congrats on finally making it hoping things go well for you in the future.

Gday everyone,

New to this site, It looks like a great way to get support and some friendly ears.

We have updated our timeline, basically NOA2 from May 6 2020, and nothing for the last 6mths.

I see people have been expediting, however I can really justify putting in this claim.

We just have to wait and see.

Cheers,

Hi Everyone,

During the interview, do we have to carry original financial documents of the petitioner submitted to the NVC

Hi Kunno, what can I say, the website says you dont need them, the Document cover sheet shows you do. I took mine just to be safe. They flicked through quickly putting it to one side didnt seem interested. They did however take ALL the other original documents and copied them into the system. (Yes the very same ones already uploaded into the system for the I-130 and for NVC.) So make sure you have the originals as thats what they want to see. My personal take on it is to see if you can actually produce the originals.

Hope all goes for you.

Regards

John.

Oh okay, I haven’t even received that email but that may be due to my case still being at nvc since June but not making it to the embassy yet.
