Thanks Sharni! It turns out we need to do the Medical after the interview anyway as the one in Brisbane is fully booked. So strange considering the slowdown of visa interviews.

Yes, I'm in Brisbane too and they did have a bit of a wait time.  I asked the Consulate if they could schedule the appointment for 3 weeks in advance, and they were nice enough to grant that, so I had plenty of time to get mine done.  There's a few expedites going through, and perhaps the doctor only works a part time.  He's elderly.

You'll need to quarantine when you get back to Brisbane.  I hope you get a hotel room with a balcony.  It's been nice to have that.

Congratulations!!

when his passport arrives it’ll come with a letter from the embassy to send to BP. It’s really easy now and those issues from months ago shouldn’t happen anymore

My passport came back in the Express envelope all by itself.  The letter was emailed to me.

Hi All! Such a great thread - thank you everyone for your contributions. I'm going to my interview at the Sydney consulate this Tuesday and am really confused about what health insurance coverage to get. I'd actually like to get something quite comprehensive and not just a 'tourist' level of coverage. Any guidance would be appreciated!

I just want to update everyone that NVC did end up sending me an email today with an interview date of 6 October! Ps for those that have had their interview, did you just send the medical centre your interview email or did you print it out? @zochu @Sharni

I have my interview on Tuesday 6th October too!

I'm not sure I can help you because I have found the whole health insurance thing very confusing.   Some people have been asked about it and others haven't.  I wasn't asked about it at all.  I had some prepared answers though, such as I could be covered by my husband's work fund, or I had the name of several insurers that I would arrange insurance with as soon as I got there.

I'm wondering if there's another thread with specifically health insurance related questions.

Could posters please indicate what state they are from when they say they have an interview scheduled? My hubby is in Melbourne and has been waiting 6 months, even with an expedite. Thank you!

Well looks like today’s the day they’re scheduling looking at all the posts.. Congrats to all..

I got my Sydney Interviews too 8am 14 oct... god knows why since I filed AOS back in April shows how their left and right hands don’t speak lol

Anyways I’ll be declining my interview obviously, so if anyone needs to reschedule theirs due to travel covid whatever my appointment time/date will be free’d up in the next 24hr and you should go hastel them for it. 😁

good luck to all

Oh hey interview buddy! What time did you get? I got 10am and another member here got 8am. My partner, Jayden will be the one being interviewed but I might be sitting in the lobby waiting if I'm allowed. I'm pale with long blonde hair and dark features if you see me :)

I just looked up insurance on finder.healthcare.gov for my area and found Blueshield was a good price. I gave them the details for that. This was in the application though, I haven't been asked about it since so it should be enough to just give them the policy name.

I have Blueshield it’s ok I guess, haven’t used it...I think it’s expensive, hubby pays $500+USD a month for just the two of us and that’s with his employer paying the majority chunk on top.. my mother in-law insists her cover is better for cheaper..make sure you shop around

you do need to make sure you go to the right doctors/dentists etc if you don’t go to one of their designated doctors they charge you massive out of pockets.. not like home where you can go to any old GP... that’s also why I think there’s some cheap policies out there... cheap insurance but drive an hour to find the doctor.. so check they have doctors in your area too

I'm not sure about the situation with working-age people as I qualified for US Medicare. But there are health insurance agents/brokers here just like there are insurance agents for cars, homes, etc and my neighbor referred me to an agent who set me up with a Medicare Advantage plan. No cost for the service or the plan and it includes all sorts of 'extras' like dental, pharmacy and even health club membership. You can google for brokers in your area and contact them by email. This is how I sorted out my American house insurance when I was still in Australia.
