Hey everyone, just thought I would give our update for information purposes. FYI we live in NSW near Byron. Here is our timelines with a priority date of 23/11/2019 Texas for a CR1 Spouse Visa US Citizen that is domiciled in Oz but intends to relocate to the US permanently:

31/8 Applied for expedite after being DQ since May

5/9 Expedite under review automatic message

18/9 Received approval for expedite

28/9 Email from Sydney Embassy giving 3 options for interview - responded straight away for Option 1 - as soon as possible.

Hoping we get our interview date letter today. Do they just send you a date or do you have to log in anywhere to choose one?

I just want to update everyone that NVC did end up sending me an email today with an interview date of 6 October! Ps for those that have had their interview, did you just send the medical centre your interview email or did you print it out? @zochu @Sharni

MY HUSBAND WAS APPROVED TODAY!! Finally after 28 months - approved!! =D

He was the only one in the entire embassy for his 8am interview time - he was there for an hour 20 min. They asked several weird questions like why had I hyphenated my last name, but then normal ones like did I (The US spouse) live in the US? What did I do for work? How did we meet?

Weirdly enough my husband got an interviewer who said we hadn't needed my parents to sponsor (I make only $25,000 per year... barely above poverty level). So it seems the financials at the moment completely just depend on who you get...

For those who have filed the Aus exemption - what did you use as proof to leave? @zochu @aus2tx

Congratulations!!

when his passport arrives it’ll come with a letter from the embassy to send to BP. It’s really easy now and those issues from months ago shouldn’t happen anymore

Hi Mayflower, I feel your devastation and truly hope something happens soon for y'all, we too are in a similar age bracket and situation. I like you my wife looks to be spending Christmas alone along with her birthday in Dec and our anniversary in Jan. I have had to a short term lease and am still stuck in Vic as are others. I know my case is by no way unique as many are trapped by this whole border closure issue.

Prayers for everyone out there currently dealing with these delays.

Hi John,

My husband has also missed our 27th anniversary in August and my birthday last week. I certainly hope he will be here for Christmas. By that time we will have been in the system for 24 months, far longer than we ever anticipated. Good luck to you!

That's awesome! What did you have to submit?

He took everything to the interview. I think it was over 100 pages in documents, but they only kept a few. Will have to check what they kept, but our lawyer thought it would be best to take it all

Oh sorry I meant why was it in administrative processing? I figured it was a missing document. I am going to be the same way - bringing everything!

Gotcha! I think that's the default it goes to as soon as you're accepted.

Contact the medical centre and ask what they will need.  They sent me a form to fill in with my details including the Case Number.   You don't have to have the medical before the interview, but it will sit as administrative processing until they get that.   Good luck.

Thanks Sharni! It turns out we need to do the Medical after the interview anyway as the one in Brisbane is fully booked. So strange considering the slowdown of visa interviews.

Congrats on the Approval, great news. The only one there, wow I would have thought there would a few in wait.

Cheers

John.

There were 4 for 8am when I went, and then a couple of more came through at 9am.   I spoke with 3 young people and they were all there for K1s and they'd had their March appointments cancelled, and were only just being re-booked.
