Nice one! Did they offer you a date couple weeks out? (seems to be what they're doing). It's been 17 days since NVC confirmed my expedite was approved and expecting interview scheduling any day now (My status on CEAC tracker just changed to 'Ready' on Friday too) -just glad to hear they're still scheduling as I was starting to wonder!

1 – Please schedule the next available appointment.

2 – I am unable to attend an interview due to COVID-19 restrictions in my State or Territory. I will contact you for an appointment as soon as I can attend.

3 – I am not yet ready to attend an interview, I will contact your office 2 months prior to when I hope to have an interview scheduled. I understand this may be longer due to the effect of COVID -19 on scheduling availability.

Hi All, hope your are travelling along well in your applications. A question for those that may have already dealt with the Vic NSW border issue. One can apply to get a border crossing that must be used within 14 days if approved, that alone will NOT get an interview scheduled. However has anyone found or used a short term base (or must it be an actual lease) that would be acceptable for registration as an address in NSW as nothing is moving for Victoria yet and most likely wont until the border reopens.

Cheers All.

MY HUSBAND WAS APPROVED TODAY!! Finally after 28 months - approved!! =D

He was the only one in the entire embassy for his 8am interview time - he was there for an hour 20 min. They asked several weird questions like why had I hyphenated my last name, but then normal ones like did I (The US spouse) live in the US? What did I do for work? How did we meet?

Weirdly enough my husband got an interviewer who said we hadn't needed my parents to sponsor (I make only $25,000 per year... barely above poverty level). So it seems the financials at the moment completely just depend on who you get...

For those who have filed the Aus exemption - what did you use as proof to leave? @zochu @aus2tx

Congrats on the Approval, great news. The only one there, wow I would have thought there would a few in wait.

Cheers

John.

If you want to 'move' to NSW you have to fly there, have a lease (not sure if an airbnb is enough) and quarantine for 14 days at your cost. All that rigamarole is a deterrent to trying this. We have considered it.

Hi Mayflower, thanks for the reply, yes it looks like a huge pain in the a.. just not sure how long this whole border issue will be in shut down. My wife has been is the US now since Feb and looking like could be many moths more yet.

Cheers.

Hi John,

This whole thing is devastating for us. I'm the American and I've been back in the US since the first week of March. We are in our 60s and retiring here. We sold our home of 25 years and my husband is homeless. I hope he is going to be here for Christmas.

Pretty sure she’ll need a lease...she’d need one to officially change her licence to confirm residency..

Try Flatmates.com or short term furnished rentals on Domain (bring own bedding).. I used to use them when travelling for work, you can get open ended leases on a week x week basis where only a weeks notice is needed rather than signing up for a 6 month etc..

I think air B&B wouldn’t work, it’s more like vacation accomodation than a lease..now Flatmate’s.com or a short term furnished rental off domain might just do the trick

Hi Mayflower, I feel your devastation and truly hope something happens soon for y'all, we too are in a similar age bracket and situation. I like you my wife looks to be spending Christmas alone along with her birthday in Dec and our anniversary in Jan. I have had to a short term lease and am still stuck in Vic as are others. I know my case is by no way unique as many are trapped by this whole border closure issue.

Prayers for everyone out there currently dealing with these delays.

Hey everyone, just thought I would give our update for information purposes. FYI we live in NSW near Byron. Here is our timelines with a priority date of 23/11/2019 Texas for a CR1 Spouse Visa US Citizen that is domiciled in Oz but intends to relocate to the US permanently:

31/8 Applied for expedite after being DQ since May

5/9 Expedite under review automatic message

18/9 Received approval for expedite

28/9 Email from Sydney Embassy giving 3 options for interview - responded straight away for Option 1 - as soon as possible.

Hoping we get our interview date letter today. Do they just send you a date or do you have to log in anywhere to choose one?
