Hope that everyone is holding up alright! I was hoping someone might know how long it takes for the Consulate to schedule an interview post the NVC expediting it to the Sydney Consulate. We received the message below from the NVC last Thursday but haven't heard from the Sydney Consulate since then (we live in Sydney).

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in SYDNEY, ASTL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in SYDNEY, ASTL for their action. The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

Hi Adrian, Firstly congrats on being DC'd. I had the same message but mine came back in late May and still have not heard anything about an interview. ( I must add that I am in Victoria so that may have something to do with what seems like a long delay.) Hopefully yours does not take too long.

Hi Adrian, for me it took less than a week to contact me, but they first offered a couple of options.  Then I went on a wait list because my preferred time was outside of their scheduling timeframe.  I think there's been quite a few expedites and they scheduling them as well as scheduling interviews that were cancelled back in March.  I spoke with 3 young people at the Consulate and they were attending their K1 interviews that had previously been cancelled.  Glad that you have an expedite, so it shouldn't be too long for you.   You could send them an email asking when it will be scheduled.

Hi Giggs, I was going to do that but just saw other posts where it seems if you are in Victoria we are not even being looked at until the border issue is resolved. Such a long road here to the last stage and now this. Lets hope the whole covid thing is sorted soon.

John0990, if you don't request an expedite you will still be at the end of a long line of interviews to be scheduled.  You can still apply for an expedite if you have the grounds, and then at least when the borders open, you might be in a better position.

Hi Sharni, thanks for the info certainly worth looking into, what ever helps the process to get over and join my wife. Do I get the request form the NVC or the Embassy?

Cheers.

There's no form.  You just email nvcexpedite@state.gov with the reason for the request.  Include your case number, Applicant name, Petitioner name, phone numbers and the reason for the request.   Our request included a letter from the doctor of my father-in-law stating his ill-health but I've read other people's stories mainly centred on their emotional distress etc.

I was too.  It was a god-send.   Thank you @zochu

There's just not enough official information provided to help us through this very stressful time.

That is normal. It just means they have cancelled his non expedited interview, thus clearing his schedule. This means they can schedule the expedited interview. I would delete this though as it does have your Case ID which will become your A number.

Hi John - my expedite I only wrote about emotional distress. Explained that we first lodged our application back in May 2018 and after almost 2.5 years we're distressed with not being able to start a life. Plus husband is in Aus and I'm in the US and been separated since January - so wrote about that too. Got granted from that.

Hi Giggs, I have just done the same, I figured it could not hurt to at least ask. Worst they can say is no and I would be in no worse a position than I already am. I sent that off yesterday my time so dont expect to hear for several days. My move after that would to be find a way to move into NSW for I still believe that is the hold up. All I get usually is (our office is currently unable to schedule any new appointments due to covid) I now know they are setting and holding appointments just not for Victoria. Just a pity that those of us in Vic cant get a straight answer telling us that is the case. Is so frustrating.

Hi Adrian, we received our expedite 7 days ago and haven't heard back yet either.

Hi Patty, that's such great news! Has he had any response from them yet? We received our expedite approval 7 days ago but haven't heard from Sydney. I decided to email them today and got the automated response. Did your partner just send the one email?
