That's awesome! Yeah I believe mine is the same. I'm DQ'd and my case is stuck at NVC. Hopefully my approval is only a few days behind yours then!

Could be something to do with them prioritising K-1 visas at the moment. I'm assuming you emailed NVC? I haven't emailed Sydney and not sure if I should considering they need NVC to send them the case.

That's true. I emailed NVC first and they explained they have finished processing it and to email Sydney Consulate directly and then it's up the consulate officer in Sydney who reviews the expedite if they request your file or not. So you need to make sure NVC has finished processing it before you email SydneyIV to request them to send it.

Okay thanks for the tip. I'll give them a few more days and then I'll call and enquire. :)

Hi Everyone ,

Last month I received an email from NVC saying that they received everything and they will work with US consulate in Sydney to schedule an appointment.
I was just wandering if they still schedule appointments specially I am from Melbourne and the borders are closed now. How long it takes generally to schedule an appointment anyway ?

thanks

@Eisa, if you read back through many responses on this thread, I think you'd find that Sydney is rarely taking any cases from NVC without a request to expedite (that is requested through NVC but is approved by the Consulate).  I also read that the Sydney Consulate is not currently scheduling appointments for approved expedited requests for anyone from Melbourne, but I don't know how long this will be for.

for as long as there are VIC/NSW borders, Victorians will not be granted visas. Hopefully that will ease soon as our cases are dropping!

Thank you so much Sharni. On what basis should I ask for expedited request when the borders are open. Can I say that my wife’s visa in Australia will end soon ? Is that good reason ?
thanks

I've heard from others that there are a lot of reasons that an expedite can be requested for.  Generally though, it's emotional distress, separation from loved ones etc.   In my case it was for us to both immigrate as soon as possible to arrange care for my husband's elderly father who is in bad health.

I got my expedited request approved around August 14th. So all my file got sent to Syndey right away. But it looks like the interview is quite some time away as the borders are closed. I am in Melbourne.

yes

Sadly, that is very likely.

I don’t see them scheduling interviews for Victorians when there are border restrictions currently in place.

Your case will sit with consulate though until they can reschedule.

as soon as border restrictions ease email ASAP.

there are a few Victorians I know waiting with approved expedites
