Hi all, I just jumped on this site as there is little to no advice available on any of the websites. My wife is an American, we applied for the I130 back in October 2018, we have everything submitted with the nvc, then asked to resubmit a few things. We have done that. I see other people who’s uscis application was after ours and already approved. I don’t know what has gone wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate my wife is due in August and I’d like to get there but obviously won’t be able to unless I have a visa as it looks like holiday visa won’t work for a while.

When I spoke to NVC about trying to get my info back from them rather than them send it to Sydney.. they said they aren’t forwarding information to Sydney until it reopens for interviews.. unless it’s a successful Expidite.

So going off of that, the back log will likely be those appointments previously booked and cancelled (March on) due to covid and anyone who’s been approved since possibly feb, since it takes them 30 days post approval to organise interviews as general rule..

Please update your timeline..

its hard to say whats gone wrong... we applied in Oct 2018 too.. and had a heck of a time with delays and other stuff only for me to get stuck here in the states when covid hit and basically have to start over with AOS when all I really needed was my final interview. Almost 2 years down the drain..

I think for most parts it depends on the service center you get, some are much faster than others.. NVC are another problem, depending on mood they accept, reject documents like you wouldn’t believe.. all you can do is try your best to give them what you think they’ll want and prey they don’t ask for other info..

I am not applying in Australia but seem to be in a similar situation as some of you. Quarantine has ended here and I have the local embassy telling me they would schedule an interview if they had my file, but I've been case complete/DQ since 4/30 and NVC seems to just be hanging on to it (status: at NVC). My case was even expedited but expedite doesn't mean send it to the embassy when it's done, I guess.

With the conditions in some countries drastically improved yet no movement from NVC or the embassy it's hard not to believe these delays are intentional at this point, given the way those at the top have sought to restrict green cards. Just my tinfoil hat

I just wish they would at least send out some kind of generic email, just so we know what's happening.

It's super hard right now being away from our partners. Especially for those of us who have been waiting a long time. Even something super generic. Anything instead of feeling forgotten about. It would be good to even have a banner on the website with planned reopenings for the Sydney consulate. Theres not even any info on their site about being closed. A proposed reopen date would be nice.

Stuff is hard right now.

I emailed the nvcexpedite email address and got a generic response if that counts?? 🤣

I think because mine is a K-1 they thought I was asking them to expedite it.   I was just asking them to send it out to the consulate.... but I got the ‘K-1 visas are already expedited’ response.

Sadly I think all we can do is wait.... we will never get any hint of openings till they are really ready to make an official statement.  I’m just disappointed that Australia is so far ahead of everything now and people are back to work and we’re able to have larger groups in buildings now but we still don’t really have a ‘path forward’ yet.

Who knows... maybe we will be pleasantly surprised this week... or month.... hoping!!!

I've been emailing both the NVC Expedite email and the support-australia@ustraveldocs.com one.

Which one is the correct one? The people on the call centre aren't very helpful!

NVC Expedite is for Spouse cases from what I can tell.

The support-australia one you can email too but it goes to the USTravelDocs department and they forward it to the consulate and wait to hear back from them before replying to you.

That being said you need to be able to provide evidence of an urgent need for an interview.  They will still need to send the paperwork from NVC to the consulate which can take time....usually only family medical emergencies and severe compassionate reasons are valid - but who knows... sometimes I think it depends on who you get and what they think about your case.

I emailed the consulate today to see if they had received our case from the NVC following our expedite approval. My husband got an email about an hour later with his interview appointment!

Was that the support-australia@ustraveldocs.com email?

How do you actually expedite? We are considering putting a request in July if nothing has happened with the consulates.

is it via NVC?
