Yep, up until about 3 weeks ago we could have entered Sydney with no drama and return to QLD without hotel quarantine. But thanks to the few doing the wrong thing that has since changed. We can only hope that by the time we need to go down there and come back that Annastacia Palaszczuk has removed the "Hot-Spot" marked on Sydney and in general NSW.

Hang in there I know it's hard right now, I have been on a knifes edge with all of this for the past few weeks. We are all in this together and can only hope things get better soon.

I had the thought that if I can get an exemption to go visit my Fiance in the US and then upon my return I quarantine in Sydney, it might be the easiest way for me to get into NSW and stay there until my interview (I'm from VIC). I know it would be horribly expensive but we are so desperate. And if I got an expedited interview granted maybe it wouldn't be too long a wait in Sydney after quarantine. I would probably have to get my medical done before taking my trip to visit my fiance though. It's a bit of a joke that it would likely be easier for me to be granted an exemption to go to the US to help my fiance right now and then fly back through Sydney and have to quarantine there, than it would be for me to get into NSW from within Australia.

Although I'm not sure if after the quarantine after returning from overseas if you would have to immediately catch a flight to your final destination that was on your ticket (in my case, VIC), or if you can just choose to stay in Syd.

Are you allowed in to the States as a fiancé?

seems like a solid plan otherwise 🙌🙌🙌

you have 6 months from date of medical to enter USA, otherwise you will require a new medical. Just heads up.

im unsure what the rule is but I imagine you quarantine in Sydney first!

Yep I'm allowed in as a Fiance. I know of some other people who are also currently waiting for their fiance visa interview who just got an exemption to leave Australia to go visit their Fiance in the US (which is what led me to this somewhat crazy but desperate plan 😂).

So upon returning to Australia I would have to quarantine at my first port of entry (which would be Sydney- unless they changed my flight LOL which with how everything has been going lately could absolutely happen! Although as long as I don't fly straight to VIC I could work around it. But yes, potential here for a glitch in my plan).

And if I can't get a medical without an interview date I could potentially do medical in Sydney after quarantine although that would further extend my time in Sydney.

Thanks for your response! Sometimes you just need someone else to look at your plan and tell you if you've lost it or not lol. I'll watch the numbers in VIC over the next week or so though before making a decision.

Just got my CR1/IR1 visa Approved earlier today at US consulate Sydney. Had my Medical exam on Jul 31, the results were sent to the consulate on Aug 4. The CO just checked my civil docs and asked few questions like when, where and how did we meet. He also asked for some pictures of me and my husband. Finally, he asked when will i finished my PhD.

They check the AOS documents (we used I-864EZ) but did not asked for the DS-5540 (although we submitted it on our ceac account previously).

Now waiting for my passport, which according to the CO, will arrive within 2 weeks.

Goodluck to everyone :)
