Is anyone who filed in June still waiting for their biometrics appointment letter?

We filed the AOS packet in early June, and haven't heard anything since receiving the NOA in mid June. We're in Southern California.

I am in NorCal Sac and filed June 18. I did get an RFE so that may delay the letter but I am also pretty sure that the Biometrics letter is sent by the local ASC. Sacramento is usually a busy area when it comes to immigration so it may take a bit for me to get one. Also, SoCal is pretty busy when it comes to immigration too.

My current Timeline:

June 9, 2020 - Form I-130 filed electronically through USCIS.gov

June 10, 2020 - Form I-130 Accepted

June 11, 2020 - Form I-130 I-797 PDF available for download with priority date of June 9, 2020

May 26, 2022 - Status updated to "New Card is being produced" Green Card Approved.

*Packet was mailed without I-693 medical. Will wait for an RFE and take it to the interview. Also, tax transcripts were not available at the time so copies of the tax returns were sent and a cover letter explaining why.

**Included tax transcripts in RFE response since I was now able to gain access since sending the application.

Actually my friend who already got biometrics appointment letter says the letter was mailed from NBC (MO), so I'm not sure exactly how they do it but apparently NBC coordinate all marriage based AOS appointment date?

2019-08-04   Got Married

2020-01-22   Filed I-130 (Consullar Processing)

I’m in NorCal Oakland also and our process is taking quite long. We also received an RFE, and haven’t received biometrics yet. We filed around June 14

hmmm in that case you might be right in that they coordinate with the ASC. I wonder if they have access to some sort of appointment calendar to see people who have been scheduled at the ASC for the date 🤔

I have tried to use trackers and search the forums to see how long people have waited in my area but all are from before the pandemic so I cannot get any accurate idea. Prior to the pandemic, Sacramento allowed you to walk-in and do your biometrics without an appointment but now they do not allow it at all.

Hello guys! I just received another letter from USCIS for another biometric appointment. I already have appointment for 8/28 and this one is for 09/04. Does that letter mean that they canceled the previous one and they schedule a new one? Or they simply had me twice on their calendar. On the the letter states code 2 but the other code 3 ? Any advice will be appreciate

It's likely one is for EAD and the other is for AoS.  (EDIT: I wrote AP initially)

I've read about this in other posts, and the advice I've seen is to show up at the first appointment, and give them both notices. They should handle both at once, so you won't need to go to the second.

(e.g., see https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/302167-two-biometrics-appointment/

A more definitive source from 2014: https://www.uscis.gov/archive/some-biometric-appointment-notices-issued-in-error

(I hope this isn't delaying other people, as they've erroneously booked two time slots for you).

That's odd...you would think they would do whatever they need in one appointment.

A quick google search:
"Code 2 is for cards of immigration benefits, such as an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or green card. Code 3 is a combination of codes 1 and 2 and happens when USCIS wants both a background check as well as to generate a green card or EAD for you."

  • Code 1 – fingerprinting only (10 prints);
  • Code 2 – biometrics (photo, signature and index finger);
  • Code 3 – fingerprints (10 prints) and biometrics (photo, signature and index finger).
  • Code 5 – one-hand fingerprints (4 prints on one hand), photo and signature.

Exactly the same happened to me and I'm concerned I messed it up. Show them both notices, and if they say "it's fine" also show both notices to the biometrics technician and if possible get them to do Code 3. I didn't push back hard enough and they only did Code 2 biometrics for me and now I'm worried I'm stuck in limbo...
