Honestly all we can do is to speculate at this point. My (very optimistic) speculations are:

  • They want to focus their resource on GC process so they want to issue us GC before EAD or AP
  • They put these ridiculous time frame during times of uncertainty so you technically won't be outside of processing times and can't be eligible for a case inquiry
  • It's a typo

Strongly hoping it’s a mix between all. It would be nice to have GC way faster but if it goes over the 4-6 (usual) EAD timeframe then I’d still rather get the EAD first or else I can already see myself being unemployed for a year... Then again I really doubt EAD’s will only take 4-6 months to get approved because of the furloughs :(

I like the optimism. They could also be preparing for the furloughs which are set to happen at the end of August.

Here's some light reading I found this morning concerning marriage fraud (which you can use to distract from checking eGov and USPS Informed Delivery every few hours):

https://brooklynworks.brooklaw.edu/blr/vol77/iss2/6

Highlights:

* Some lawyers consider USCIS's requirements of bona fide marriage as an invasion of privacy.

* "War Brides Act of 1945", abused by a few people, and fought over by the supreme court. No, the brides were not war prizes.

* A brief overview of the New York Stokes unit.

*  Excerpt from New York Times: “Someone shows up at your house with a badge and a gun, unannounced . . . . ‘Hi, we’re here from immigration. Do you mind if we come in to look and see if two towels are wet?’”

* See https://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/nyregion/USCIS_Fraud_Referral_Sheet.pdf

* USCIS looks at Twitter and Facebook. Do we need to seed these sites with publicly-available marriage evidence?

(We're still waiting for an Indianapolis biometrics appointment notice. It's been 23 days since our I-693 deficiency notice and 29 since they received our RFIE response.)

That is amazing and very fast! Congrats!! Once you get to biometrics and interview, it depends on the backlog of the local USCIS office so you must live in an area with little to no backlog. Do you mind sharing what you are adjusting from and the area you are in?

I am in Sacramento and haven't been able to get a good idea of their backlog.

J1 (didn’t need a waiver) and my local USCIS office is Reno, NV. I’ve heard they don’t get as many cases as other offices so hopefully we’ll be scheduled soon 🙏

I have a friend who’s local office is Sacramento and it took her 4 months to receive her EAD card and right now she’s waiting like me to get scheduled for interview. Her EAD card came in the mail 3 days ago.

So I finally got the NOA after 50 days in the mail. I have an USCIS online account and when I added the I-485 paper case ... it shows the status but not related documents such as NOA. It looks like I can add anybody's paper case  (provided you know their MSC number) and it will show me the status. How do I get the account to be linked to my case where I can see the documents tab?

So USCIS has two case status pages:

1) https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do which is usually updated quicker than the one below and

2) https://myaccount.uscis.gov/ which is the one that I think you are referring to

As far as I know, I only have access to the documents tab for my I-130 because I filed that online. For the other paper cases which I have added manually, I am only able to see case status and case history. I don't think it is possible to see a documents tab for paper filed cases.

I normally check my.uscis.gov... you are correct ... for i-130 ... I see the documents tab. The reason I posted is that the other I day I was speaking to tier 1 agent and she said download the NOA from your USCIS account. From the time the agent told me to download from my.uscis.gov account, I am trying to scratch my head to figure our how to do that. May be she gave me wrong info.

Holy (removed) it says my I-485 case is ready for interview to be scheduled as of August 19th! I just had my biometrics appointment on August 13th. How long does it take to get an interview date normally?? I wasn't expecting anything any time soon, I'm going to have to read up on everything I need to do to prepare

Is anyone who filed in June still waiting for their biometrics appointment letter?

We filed the AOS packet in early June, and haven't heard anything since receiving the NOA in mid June. We're in Southern California.

Yup. We filed mid June and haven’t heard a word. We’re in DC. I think there’s still a big amount of us who hasn’t done their biometrics yet
