That is amazing and very fast! Congrats!! Once you get to biometrics and interview, it depends on the backlog of the local USCIS office so you must live in an area with little to no backlog. Do you mind sharing what you are adjusting from and the area you are in?

I am in Sacramento and haven't been able to get a good idea of their backlog.

Yep, I came here to post the same. From what I understand, most of us on this threat (AOS within the US, applying for EAD based on a pending I-485) are processed at National Benefit Center. What kind of craziness is this? 28.5 - 37 months?? That's 3 years. What kind of furlough can cause 3 years backlog? I don't know what to think of this piece of information... I'm hoping it's a typo but unlikely...

I’m just hoping this means the Green Card will come in the next few months but in my case it seems HIGHLY unlikely. Washington DC has always been backlogged. Pre-covid the GC already took up to 2 years....

Well if they delay that much the EAD or AP, what makes you think that they will not take the same time to issue you a green card?

I’ve read they’re trying to solely work on GC’s now to speed them up so that they don’t have to work on EAD’s & AP’s no more since they’re gonna have way less employees. Not sure if it’s true though but it would make sense... I still think GC’s will take more than 4-6 months though... especially for us two

EAD and AP are not needed if the green card is approved so I am hoping this means that they are shifting resources from those documents (based on a pending I-485) and using all resources for the I-485. The sooner they can get green cards approved, the less EAD and AP documents they will have to review.

If you look at the timeline for AP, it is at 2.5 months to 5 months - Since they seem to typically process these together if you filed both, I hope that is more the case in how they are processing!  Although getting the GC quicker would be nice too.

Yup, in the same boat here. My current visa expires end of January 2021 and was hoping EAD would happen in October/November as the DC processing times are so slow. Fingers crossed things are still moving on EAD for us!

I read it on another month AOS filer thread (not sure which one, either March/April/May) sorry :( Which is why I said I’m not sure if it’s true since they didn’t post a source either.

Honestly all we can do is to speculate at this point. My (very optimistic) speculations are:

  • They want to focus their resource on GC process so they want to issue us GC before EAD or AP
  • They put these ridiculous time frame during times of uncertainty so you technically won't be outside of processing times and can't be eligible for a case inquiry
  • It's a typo
