I'm new to this, so please bear with me... I've just married a citizen of the UK. We got married in the US and had no idea how hard it would be for him to get back into the States once he left, which he did. We met on the web as well, which complicates things as we married on his initial visit here. We have proof of being together, but its all from the one visit. Does anyone know if that is going to ruin our chances for the I-29F to work? Any info would be SO much appreciated. Thank you!! :help:

Since you're married, you'll need to get a K3 or go the CR-1 route. Check out the "guides" tab and read about each process - the timelines, ups and downs, etc.

It doesn't matter how often you've met, just that you have.

Can he travel using the visa waiver program? You should be able to visit each other with relative ease so long as you know how to present yourself and potential problems at the border. Those issues are things to ask about and discuss after you read the guides, the FAQ, and the information available at www.uscis.gov about the processes available to you.

(p.s. unless he has trouble with immigration in the past, like he can't use the waiver to travel under anymore, then he may very likely be able to come and visit or spend some of the processing time with you here in the US. what he can't do is emigrate here without the proper permission, nor can he work here. You're at the start of a process that can seem very daunting and very scary. But the first thing to do is buckle down and read, read, read. There's a steep learning curve here, and with a week of research, you'll feel loads better about everything.)

Since you said you married, you will be first filing I-130 for a CR-1, and if you want to go the K-3 route you woild then file I-129F with a copy of I-130 NOA1 attached to it.

No Meeting on line, and marrying the way you did wont hurt your case.

Again you are not doing K-1, you will be doing CR-1 or K-3 visa.

SEE:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide (K-3)

To compare what is different about them look here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=compare

CR-1 has the benifit of an imediate green-card, and work privelege as soon as the visa holder arrives in the USA

K-3 has the benifit that it may be a bit quicker is all, but you need to apply for EAD in order to work (up to 90 days after entry) and have to adjust status to get green-card which also can take some time to complete.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
