Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that tomorrow I’ll be attending the Oath Ceremony at the Long Island Office in NY. The ceremony was supposed to occur on June 18th, but it was cancelled last minute because of the Juneteenth holiday.
I am beyond excited about becoming a U.S. Citizen. Good luck to all of you!

Congratulations! Had my oath ceremony this morning in Miami.  Took a total of about 45 minutes, half hour of waiting for all to show and 15 minutes for the actual ceremony. Don’t forget your ceremony letter and/or residency card. A few people forgot them and were told that they will be rescheduled for a future ceremony. Also, some didn’t know that due to COVID-19 guests (includes spouses, friends, parents, etc unless a minor) are not allowed inside for the ceremony. Best to all!

I also had my interview on the 20th in Miami and the officer told me that I should wait for my oath ceremony letter. How were you able to get your ceremony scheduled so fast? I am still waiting for the date.

I also had my interview on the 20th in Miami and the officer told me that I should wait for my oath ceremony letter. How were you able to get your ceremony scheduled so fast? I am still waiting for the date.

The officer also said to me "to wait for my oath ceremony letter".  I took her statement literally and waited for the letter to be handed to me.  I even sent a message to my spouse who was waiting outside that I had to wait a bit for my oath ceremony letter. My question to you is going to sound inane, but did you misunderstand the officer and left without getting your letter?  A few others that I had a few superficial words who interviewed at the same time also got their letter soon after the interview.

I would call USCIS and or send an email to them to inquire as to why others got letters immediately and you did not.  Check your portal to see if there is any reference to a letter being sent to you.  Soon after my interview there was a statement stating that I had been approved and that an oath ceremony letter had already been sent (of course I had mine in hand).

One more question for you....Did your interview occur at the USCIS office located on 8801 Northwest 7th Avenue, Miami?  There are at least two other offices in Miami, as I understand it, where they do interviews and oath ceremonies.

Please keep us posted.  I hope your letter arrives soon and/or you find out what happened.

Yes. I did have my interview at 8801 Northwest 7th avenue. After the officer asked me the test questions and go through the application form questions he gave me a paper saying I was recommended for approval. He told me that they will send me my oath ceremony letter. He escorted me out of the room, to the waiting lobby area and I left. Did I have to wait outside again? Did you wait in the officers office or outside at waiting area for the letter? I also asked for a name change(back to my maiden name) do you think that can be a reason why I didn't get my ceremony letter right away? I'm so confused.

On my uscis account its says;

July 20, 2021

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number xxxxxxx with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Under the documents tab there is no oath ceremony letter , the last file is interview scheduled.

Again, thank you very much for your reply and congrats on your citizenship!

Now I understand why you did not receive an oath ceremony letter the same day like I and others did who interviewed the same day:  It is because of your request to change your  name.  I asked about changing my name but I also asked how long would it delay the oath ceremony.  She told me it would take a long time because changing the name is easy but a judge has to either officiate at the oath ceremony or at least approve the name change. These are traveling federal judges and it depends on when they make their rounds in Miami.  As a matter of fact the officer told me that it would be easier to change one's name using the local probate court (I knew this already before the interview than to go through USCIS.  Okay, if I had to venture a guess, you will most likely have your oath ceremony within the next 7 weeks. Keep checking your portal, it is highly probable your letter will appear there probably within a week. It's taken you anywhere from 3 to 5 years to get to this point and another few months will pass rather quickly.  Again, feel free to communicate any updates.  Hang in there!  This too shall pass, it might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass :-)

Thank you for sharing your experience.  When you said you requested a name change, was this on the original N400 application or during your interview process?

Just sharing my timeline and interview/oath taking experience:

June 7, 2020 - N400 application done online. Green card through (I-130)

June 8, 2020 - Acknowledgment letter (online update and mail received couple of days later).

March 20, 2021 - Biometrics appointment letter (online update and mail received later).  <--This was the first real update since application. It felt forever until receiving this notice!

April 14, 2021 - Biometrics done / Status changed to actively reviewing your application.  <-- Felt a long while after this. But not as long as the other.

June 24, 2021 - Interview letter received!

July 22, 2021 - Interview done and passsed! Was offered if I can attend to the oath taking in 2hours, I said hell yea! Unfortunately it was full so I attended and waited for 4hours! I still can't complain. It is the same day than coming back again!

July 22, 2021 - Oath taking done!!

Interview at USCIS San Francisco

Got there 30mins before appointment. It was a chilly early morning for a Summer time. While in line outside, we were reminded to get our Green Card and appointment letter ready. Security are very courteous and helpful. TSA kind of check once you get inside. Went to the interview waiting area, checked my appointment letter and directed to sit in a certain section and wait to be called. I was called in less than 10mins.

Officer greeted and introduced herself, very polite and straightforward. I tried to start a small talk but she just answered with brief straight answers. She is not rude, she was just thoroughly checking and scanning all my documents that I brought (I think). Asked 6 questions of Civics, then reading and writing. After all of those were done. Background check questions then she asked about details of the times when I was outside the country while on Green Card(3yrs). Typed in each of my answers and asked me to read it. When confirmed, she printed the interview result and handed it to me.

I was then asked if I want to attend the Oath Taking ceremony in 2hours.. I said yes!!! Unfortunately, it got filled up and next one was in 4hours instead. So I just walked around San Francisco, sit in the park, eat in China town, coffee in one corner. Next thing I need it is one hour before the oath taking so went back to USCIS to fall in line.

Security guard is a bit of a joker, he kept us all entertained while waiting in line outside. About 5mins before we were let in, a very nice lady told us to make sure all of our documents are ready and page 4 is filled up. This is the same lady who collected the Green card that we surrendered. Then the ceremony and that's it! All done!

Side note: For everyone who will have their interview in San Francisco, we guys are lucky. Everybody from the security, officer and the rest of staff are very polite and helpful. I was reading on reviews on other sites and it does not seem to be matching what I have experienced. It feels far from what others posted on other sites..

Lastly, if you have not received any update yet. Don't worry, it will come. I kinda forgot about it for a long time when I was not getting any updates. Next thing I know I am already a citizen!

Goodluck to all who are still in the process and Congrats to all who have completed their journey already!

My N400 Interview experience.

I had my interview today and officer was very kind and polite, cracked some jokes here and there :) .
he started straight up with Civics test asked 6 questions and had one sentence to read and write in English. verified all my info and he didn't tell I passed but just told be you are 90% naturalized and will be fully naturalized after we take a Oath in a minute. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to do a happy dance and went in and came out as US Citizen in 15 mins.

Good Luck to you ALL!!
