I wrote to USCIS and got a generic response that I am in the queue for the interview and that is it.

The time to decision shows 20 days today, but I am not placing much faith in that clock.

Thanks, Sartre for your insight into this process.

Okay, please keep us posted.

Had my Biometrics on July 1st in Austin. Next day I did get the same email as others that they took action on my case. But doesn't look like there is anything. I did call to get my phone number updated. They said there is no next step until they complete the background check from biometrics.

Anyways, how has everyone's timeline been after biometrics? is it a month or 2 months for case completion?

Any movement for you after biometrics?

Within a week after the  biometrics  appointment  I received a notice that an "appointment for interview has been scheduled" which was about 7 weeks after the biometrics were completed. The completion time jumped to 13 months  There isn't any rhyme or  reason to the completion times. No one should pay attention to them. It still shows 13 months even though my interview is in 2 weeks.

Yes, I got a message next day that my interview was scheduled and got the interview letter after a week. My interview is on July 28th.

Hi All

My wife got her interview notice for Aug 5 @ the San Francisco field office. I haven't got mine yet, although we filed on the same date (June 18, 2020). Hopefully, the page should update soon.

Unfortunately, we might have to travel internationally for a family emergency that could prevent us from attending the interview.

What is the downside to requesting a re-schedule? Any info or experience on this front would be much appreciated. How much delay would that usually cause?

Here is a guide many use if the scheduled interview has to be cancelled and reschedule.  By the way, if all possible, I would not cancel the interview, this might sound cold and unfeeling, I would do everything possible not to cancel the interview.  Hope the info posted below helps:

If at all possible, you should attend your naturalization interview on the day it is scheduled. Trying to reschedule can produce confusion and delays of weeks or even months.

However, if you truly cannot make the scheduled appointment—for example, because of illness or a medical or family emergency—you can ask U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for a new date. In fact, USCIS strongly prefers that people who have any sort of contagious illness cancel their appointments, for the sake of others around them.

Whatever you do, do not simply skip the interview date. If you do, USCIS is likely to close your case. Then you will have to start all over again and reapply.

To request a reschedule, the normal method is to write to the USCIS office where the interview was scheduled to take place, and explain the situation. Include a request that you be given a new interview date, and mention any pertinent scheduling information, such as the length of time that you will be hospitalized.

(Check your interview notice, however, in case it gives you a different way to contact USCIS about the reschedule.)

When you send in your request, be sure to enclose a copy of the interview notice that USCIS sent you.

Use the sample letter, below, as a guide. Do not send the letter to the same address that you first sent your application—that is a USCIS Service Center, and once it has transferred your file to your local USCIS office, it has no power over your case.

In order to qualify for a new interview date, you will need to show "good cause," and that you are prevented from attending for reasons beyond your control.

"I'm not ready yet!" is not an acceptable excuse. If you simply have not prepared adequately, we recommend that you attend the interview anyway, to show that you're still interested. If the only problem is that you can't pass the English or civics exam, you'll get a second chance; the USCIS officer who meets with you will reschedule you to come back within 90 days.

Ultimately, the USCIS officer to whom you write has discretion over whether to grant the reschedule. (See 8 C.F.R. § 103.2(b)(9) )

My journey is finally over! Now on to passport and updating SSN 🇺🇲

Good luck, everyone and congratulations!

Congratulations! How was the interview?  Did they ask you many questions?  Which documents did they ask you to show them?

Thank you! Interview was pretty straightforward, easy. They asked me 6 questions and asked for my son's birth certificate.

Today, July 20, 2021, at 7:40 AM I had my interview.  Let in 10 minutes prior to my appointment.  The interview was thorough but relaxed. The interviewer had a relaxed manner about her and made me feel at ease but I want to stress she was rigorous in reviewing documents and dates.  She covered the history of places lived and when she couldn't see (neither could I) the amendment to the current lease she actually called my spouse who was waiting for me in the parking lot and  asked my spouse where they could find it.  It was on the second page.  This was, I assume unusual, for an USCIS agent to show such kindness.  She complimented me on the thoroughness of the application.  My spouse turns out has a talent for doing documents because when I became an Italian citizen my spouse had done all the documents while we were living in Italy and received a compliment on the completeness of the application.

Moved on to the  English  spoken and written test.  The questions were fairly simple: questions were around civil rights, civil war and voting rights.  The written test was: "We pay taxes."  At this point she told me I passed the interview.

After the test we updated changes in the application due to changes in  address and  work since the application was filed. Signed papers and told to wait for a letter to take to my oath ceremony.  I had hoped for a same day ceremony but I got a very close second best oath ceremony, the 22nd of July, or  just a mere two days away.

From application to biometrics to interview to ceremony all in a little over 1 year.

Best to all...

Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that tomorrow I’ll be attending the Oath Ceremony at the Long Island Office in NY. The ceremony was supposed to occur on June 18th, but it was cancelled last minute because of the Juneteenth holiday.
I am beyond excited about becoming a U.S. Citizen. Good luck to all of you!
