Back in 2017 I have filed i-130 for my unmarried child (over 21) receipt date Sept 11, 2017. I live on the West coast (California) and she is on East Coast (Canada). Today I have received a letter from USCIS that "they have a preliminary review of the application and have transferred my i-130 file to USCIS center in Vermont". I have two questions:

1) Would this application loose it's turn in line and start fresh from May 27 2020

2) (I checked today timeline for Vermont Center and it is showing that they are looking at April 20, 2014) Does that mean that it will take 3 more years moving forward to get an interview.

If someone has some experience/feedback that will be appreciated.

Thanks,

SMN

1. Keeps its original priority date

2. Doesn’t really make a difference to your case as F1 (the category your son is filed under) is only current for priority dates earlier than 22 May 2014 right now.  So yes with a 2017 priority date you are probably looking at around another 3 years to interview, but that’s because of the backlog vs annual quota for the category, not because of uscis processing time.
