Hello VJ family, Iam considering moving to another state soon...before i file my K-1.

Does anyone know, if i have to be a resident for a certain amount of time before i can

file the K-1, can i be new to a different state, does it matter or will i have

a "time at residence" issue?

Makes no difference how long you have lived in a place in the USA to file, in fact it is better to file after moving than to try to et address changed while they are processing the petition.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Move and then file. There are no residency restrictions and you won't have to worry about USCIS not updating your new address once you move (that can cause headaches).

Good luck with the move!

That is a great thing to do because my petition has been delayed due to me filing then after my first form (I-130) has been accepted I just relocated to another city and I was notified in my physical mail about 7 weeks later from the date my husband & I were approved. You know what the funny thing was? About the time when our whole case was complete, I gotten a notify in my email stating that immigration cannot locate me again. I had informed them as soon as I relocated to a different city that of my new physical address. They are so funny and they are confusing.

Hello VJ family, Iam considering moving to another state soon...before i file my K-1.

Does anyone know, if i have to be a resident for a certain amount of time before i can

file the K-1, can i be new to a different state, does it matter or will i have

a "time at residence" issue?

No, there is no such requirement. But file after you move so that you can start receiving any correspondence from USCIS.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I guess my best word for you would be congrats!!! and my feeling is they are looking for longitivity and stability in the application-I know with all the info they require you to fill out alot has times or length you have been there. it's alot and mine was for Indian Fiance but I think the paperwork is basically the same. Let me know if you need any help...

God Bless and Congrats
