Hi all,

Sorry if this has been answered before. My original I-129F petition for my fiance in Saudi Arabia has been approved. Currently in the NVC process. I applied using her first and last name, XXX ZZZ. This was before her passport expired.

Her passport expired a month after I applied, and she renewed it. She has a Pakistani passport and for some reason in Pakistan they often leave the "surname" blank. This was the case for her before renewal. Her full name, "XXX ZZZ", were both listed under "given name". Someone at the passport renewal department told her two things:

1) She must have a surname in order to immigrate to the US

2) She must have three names total (first & middle, which will go under 'given name', and a last name)

Because of this, she put her family name of "XXX" under "surname", and now it's different from my petition. In Pakistan's eyes, her name is XXX YYY ZZZ. In the US' eyes, her name is now YYY ZZZ XXX.

Do I need to have her change her passport to have "ZZZ" under the surname and "YYY" under the given name? Or will this not be an issue? Or can I addend this "XXX" name to her petition?

Thank you very much

Unfortunately, I do not know how to edit the names out. I only put them in there so you guys would have an idea of what the issue is, since it pertains to names.

This may be an issue. Mine was changed because of similar mistake when visa was issued. Names wrongly placed and differ from original way it was placed during the petition. I called to inform the embassy and asked if it would be an issue. There answer was yes. When corrected by the embassy, date of birth was wrongly inserted on visa. I didn’t notice the DOB error. At the airport, delta airline noticed it and made a phone call to the US to correct it. According to the airline, if not corrected before departure, I will have a delay at the first entry in US.

Best to use fake names. I have reported your post to the Mods so they can edit for you

I see. I am getting conflicted answers as other people (from other sources) are stating that it is not as important as long as you attach the old passport to prove that the name used on the original visa petition was indeed hers, and was changed on the subsequent renewed passport.

I will try calling the embassy in Saudi Arabia to ask, as soon as they are open.
