Expedite I-131 Reentry permit?

I know that travel during this time is not advisable, but a relative needs to leave the country for a family emergency.  They applied for a reentry permit around May 15.  Is there any way they can expedite their biometrics?

They can try to contact USCIS as an emergency. However, biometrics are obtained at an ASC, and all ASCs are closed (they do not have an opening date yet...the June 4th date does not apply to ASCs per the USCIS home page message).

I'm not sure if they are even handling emergency requests until they reopen, but maybe there is an option USCIS can provide if it's an emergency.

Has anyone applied for a reentry permit recently?  It would be interesting to hear what your experiences were with regards to biometrics.

I called USCIS, they said that application support centers are closed, but may open mid July (they told me July 13).

You can request it - they can schedule it even with a closed ASC.   Biometrics can be waived in emergency situations.   They have been waving them for regular AOS.

 

First step is to ask.  Ask for a tier 2 if necessary.

I did ask for a Tier 2 the first time I called, and was told that they can't do anything if the ASC is closed.  Is this correct?  

Sounds like I need to call them again and explain how dire the situation is.

You need to request an emergency USCIS Field Office appointment for Emergency Advance Parole:

 

Emergency Advance Parole Documents

If you are experiencing an extremely urgent situation, you may visit your local office to request an emergency advance parole document. When visiting a local office to request emergency advance parole, you should bring the following items:

• A completed and signed Form I-131, Application for Travel Document
• The correct I-131 filing fee
• Evidence to support the emergency request (e.g. medical documentation, death certificate)
• Two passport-style photos.

OP needs a re-entry permit,not Advance Parole. A re-entry permit is not something that can be issued on the spot like emergency AP.

None that I am aware of, sorry.

I know they are issuing some EADs with biometrics waived due to the pandemic - both normal and expedited - but I am unaware of them being able to do so with a re-entry permit.

That doesn't mean it's not possible...I just can't find a case of it happening since biometrics became commonplace. No harm in calling and asking.

have you not even heard back from biometrics?

I too am about to file for a 1-131 reentry permit, and also really need it to not take much longer than 3-4 months tops, but are they very behind with applications now?

Also what is it that you need to wait for? do I need to show the Reentry permit when I leave the US? I cant have it shipped to a US consulate or embassy abroad_?

The I-131 must be filed within the US, and biometrics must be completed within the US. The actual document can be sent abroad (even to the consulate abroad via the I-131).

The OP is waiting for the biometrics appointment, presumably so they can leave without having to worry about coming back soon just to do that (or will be unable to return quickly to do so).

I have not heard back regarding biometrics yet...
