We submitted a request for expedite to NVC and received an approval about 10 days after they confirmed they received our request for expedited interview. Our case was already DQ at NVC in March 2020. Now waiting to hear from the embassy for interview date or instructions on how to proceed.

Thank you! I am still waiting for them to tell me they received my request, i guess. Congrats on being almost done! And good luck to getting your interview soon!! I hope you hear a date soon

Hello Wonderful Folks,

I finally received wonderful news that my interview is scheduled for 2nd week of July, here in US embassy Singapore.  "Congrats to everyone thats been receiving the interview dates recently"

I have couple questions that need all your help and guidance;

1 - After receiving the NVC email on the scheduled interview date. I register my account on "https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/scheduleappointment" and try to pay for the courier services but i'm getting "There are currently no appointments available." Any idea how to move forward and schedule medical appointment ?

2 - When I filled the paperwork for the IR1 visa, I used my passport that i have at that point. Since then i renewed my passport due to exhaustion of pages. Is this is going to be problem with the site registration and embassy?

Thank you all your help and good luck.

I submitted docs on June 15 and got DC for both of my parents in about 12 hours! It was insanely fast and so unexpected. I thought our visa category was not prioritized. We will have to wait for a long time for the interview though due to the backlog and current EO.

Very lucky when I called they said wait until trump left the ban so question is did he left the ban ?

so guys now that the presidential proclamation has been extended I'm thinking about applying for my citizenship as I'm already eligible. I wanted to wait until my husband was here but hey now it will take time. I just wanted to know how long the process takes based on experiences. I know now with the backlog it will probably take longer but how long was it taken before that? and do you 'all think its worth it?  well I know its worth it under any circumstances but do you think it will help at some point? or will we probably still be waiting for the n-400 application to be approved by the time the ban is lifted (December hopefully)?  thanks to everyone.

I personally think it will help (and if it doesn’t, it won’t hurt your case either). Looking back, I wished I had applied for citizenship a lot sooner, as soon as I was qualified and that should have prevented my cases from being affected by all the ongoing delays. Who knows how long this suspension will last, especially if Trump gets reelected in November. And what if a second wave of COVID-19 hits again in the US and across the globe. About N-400, it depends a lot on where you apply from. I applied in NYC back in mid 2018 and It took me 10 months with no RE or any other delays.  I have seen someone applying from the state of Alaska and it took them less than 6 months.

Is the petitioner’s birth certificate needed at the interview?

Depends on the embassy/consulate.  Check your specific consulate on their own website.  For me in Vietnam under https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/required-documents/ required documents it says I need it.  So it's on the way here from the US.  I didn't want to take the chance with the vague comment about "if you don't have it".

8. Birth Certificates: Copy and original birth certificates of the petitioner, each person listed on the application, and all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying). In case you do not have the petitioner’s birth certificate, the officer will review the case and provide guidance at the interview. If you or any children were adopted, you must submit an official adoption decree.

It's a gambling game all over :) We filed our I-130 in November 2019 - I was eligible at that time to apply for citizenship, but my country of birth requires that I obtain a certification to keep their citizenship when applying for a second, and that certificate was stuck in processing for 8 months or so. Once received, I was traveling to my husband so there was no point on filing (I would have missed biometrics)... Long story short I ended up filing in January from abroad, two weeks before my return so I could attend the biometrics appointment.

The goal for filing was, to eventually speed up the I-130 processing time. We received approval for the I-130 at the beginning of March, 4 weeks after I went for biometrics. LOL. We never expected at that time that my citizenship would become an important topic again because usually NVC/embassy processing "doesn't discriminate".

So here we are again - waiting for my Citizenship interview to be scheduled. My field office is amongst the slower ones (Newark, NJ)- estimated completion time was October, but that was pre-covid so who really knows.

I would say go do it, unless you don't mind waiting another who knows how long. It seems that as long as Trump is in office, everything but being a USC can put our future at risk.

I also applied for citizenship last September. I am still permanent resident now filling for F2A visa for my wife since august 2017. I don’t know this god damn proclamation of trump and what to do anymore! Everything seems no way out for now!

I’m so sorry! Hopefully you’ll get naturalized soon! Where are you in the process for your wife? From your timeline it looks like you haven’t submitted to NVC yet?
