We were approved on 28th of May and are yet to receive the hard copy of NOA2. Is this long wait normal? I did send a case inquiry since it passed 12th of June as written in the notice online.

I submitted my case on 6/4

Today I got a notice that I wasn't eligible to use the I864EZ document... I'm not sure why since I am only filing for my wife and I meet the income guidelines as shown on my W2/Tax return. I am only slighlty above the income requirement currently... would this matter?

I can't view any of the messages on CEAC website, nor am I sure it would have any additional details

I also received a message that the birth certificate wasn't valid and I'm not too sure why since it was NSO certified (Philippines). I am going to request a new one from the website they suggest on the "where to get documents section" and hope they accept the new one.

Did any of you submit DS-5540 and/or evidence of health insurance at the NVC stage? They are not listed as required documents so my guess is we only need to bring them to the interview. Am I right? Thanks!

Correct, you don't fill it out at this stage, but after the NVC approves you and before your interview if requested.

I have a question, what happens if i lose a job after i have been DQ and right before interview. Should i file a joint sponsorship. Also, if i lose a job how much money i should have to show them that i have in the bank.

Hi! The asset requirements are listed on the USCIS website - I believe it needs to be minimum 3 times the amount of required annual income, but please verify there.

If the petitioner is unemployed before interview, it would be better to line up a joint sponsor unless assets are comfortably enough to meet the requirements. The applicant should bring updated original financial documents to the interview.

The messages work best in Internet Explorer I think. Click on the message and wait long time, eventually it should show. Especially if you check during off hours (eg middle of the night) when less visitors are on ceac. If nothing helps, call NVC and they’ll read the messages to you.

You can also call and ask about the I-864ez if you’re sure that you qualify for it, and let them explain why they think you’re not eligible.

update: stumbled upon this topic - lots of helpful explanations around I-864

Oh no that sucks. I hope you can figure it out.

I have mentioned this in the monthly NVC threads before, it is recommended to submit i864 even if you meet the requirements of the EZ version.

Service Center: Texas Service Center SRC

Consulate: Juarez, Mexico

I-130 NOA1: 2019/03/21

I-130 NOA2: 2019/09/17

NVC DQ: 2020/01/21

Visa Approved: 2021/07/01

That’s helpful sounds like the same situation, thanks. I did call and they read me the message. They said I do not meet income requirement but couldn’t give any other info. Said it wasn’t denied but the consulate would make a decision. I was also missing proof of employment/payslip so maybe also part of the decision.

I need to fill out an I864 anyway so I’ll figure out how to show proof of other assets.

Ah shucks I missed that. Seems others had the same experience. I’ll fill out the 864 and go from there. Thank you!

We got DQ yesterday. First submission April 29, RFE May 26th, then second submission May 28th. Has anyone heard anything about embassy openings worldwide? I'm sure its different for each country, just wondering what things are looking  like currently.

Congrats! 🎉

There are an estimated 1001 threads around this topic on VJ and the short answer is no. Some embassies started scheduling emergency/expedite appointment, and DOS has released a statement which indicates that interviews won’t be resumed until a specific country has entered the last phase of re-openings and the specific post has gone through all phases successfully as well (full workforce, etc etc).

I heard Ukraine has already started calling to reschedule appointments and also some will open international flights July 1st, does not mean us embassies are going to open also but its a big possibility.
