Interview went well. My wife said it was very quick. She will be flying to the US on Thursday.

Congrats!
may I ask you if  they asked her for the DS5550? What did the Consular Officer ask her?

Hi guys, today my wife got her interview at the HCMC consulate in Vietnam as well. The interview was also quick and went well for us. I'm so happy! I wish you all luck and hopefully embassies/consulates around the world will open soon for you guys as well!

Congratulations!! I’m wondering has US embassy in Vietnam updated they resume the interview on their website or fb page? Because I found out some of the embassy still saying they suspended the routine visa interview but they also actually scheduled interview.

Phew. So interview is done.

It was done in 1.5 hours. Feels pretty fast honestly.

First you go through security checks, then you get a ticket to the first window. Very nice lady got all my documents required for interview including proof of relationship. Then I was sitting waiting for the interview itself. I took around 40 minutes since there was lady before me. After her interview it took around 20 minutes to get to mine.

Got called to the window, the was a guy asking questions and lady behind him checking on him.

Questions where

Tell me about you husband. Didn't really know what to say so just told them random facts about him lol, he asked also to tell him how we met, when we started dating and living together.

Other questions were what are our plans in the US, who is my sponsor, if I know his family. That's pretty much it.

Since medical result wasn't sent there yet we got AP and waiting for the results.

Congratulations! 🎊 What kind of documents for proof of relationship you gave?

Thank you! We had a bunch of pictures from our Europe trips and some handwritten letters with envelopes, so I took them with me.

Thanks. And may I ask you about DS5540? Who filed this form, the petitioner or beneficiary's? And all us embassies require this form to be filled?

Hello Jerus,

It is a form that only the applicant files. All Embassies can ask you to show it.

But since, it is quite a new form, most of the applicants I am following on the forum have not been asked to show it during their interview.

Better be ready with it.

Also, if they don't ask for it during the interview, the Officer at your port of entry when you arrive in the US for the first time with your immigrant visa can ask to see it and see the proof that you are on your way to have a proper Health Insurance within 30days after your arrival.

Hope I'm clear 😉

Take care,

Alix

Question:  My stepdaughters case has been DQ'd and is still at NVC waiting for interview date.  We will be in JA, hopefully if virus doesn't mess things up again, in August and would love to bring her back so I can get her enrolled in school for September. I am planning to send in an expedite request but don't know if I send it to NVC or the embassy. Anyone know?  It's probably a long shot they will grant it,  but you never know til you ask. Thanks to all who respond 🌺

Do both! :)

Hello does anyone here had the same response from NVC when they tried to expedite the case:

You are F2A? What was the expedite request supposed to accomplish? The visa category is suspended until at least January 2021 so there’s nothing to be expedited. The email is probably the nice way of NVC telling you this.

Hello,

Did they ask you for the DS 5540?
