Thank you, but we're not going to celebrate just yet! We're hoping it was successful, of course, but we know that crazy things happen in this process, even at the very end. Knock on wood, though

Best of luck to you! Rooting for you guys!

Can someone tell me what happens after your case is accepted for expedite? We are interviewing in Greece but essentially does your case go to the front of the line? Does the embassy contact your directly? Us embassy in Greece tells me they haven’t received our case yet from NVC. NVC has told me that they will forward our case to the embassy but once they resume normal visa operations. I’m just a bit confused.

I’m not sure which part confuses you or where you need clarification?

NVC keeps all cases until consular sections re-open. Is Athens already scheduling mission critical visas? I haven’t seen any info about that yet. Is Greece in phase 3 of re-opening?
You will receive preferred/expedited treatment, but I wouldn’t put my money on “front of the line”. That will probably very much depend on your personal reason for expedite, since there are for instance students that will miss a semester that has been paid if they don’t get the first available interview spot.

Hello everyone :)

So here is a little overview of my medical exam in Kyiv yesterday.

So they scheduled my medical on the 24th at 8am

. I got there exactly at specified time, all tests are performed on the third floor of the clinic. When I got to that floor I saw 4 people sitting there, only later I understood they are all here for the same reason.

First was urine test and x-ray, that was super fast and done in 10 minutes and that's when things got terribly slow.

You don't know what the next test will be, so you just sit in a corridor with the rest of people and wait till they call you. The next blood test took around 45 minutes to be done because the rest of the people went before me. Then it was weight, height and blood pressure tests. It took another hour or so. Finally, there was a medical history check where the doctor asks about diseases you have or had, mental illness, and checks your body and lungs. Personally, for me, the wait felt like it took forever. The first 3 people took around 20-30 minutes each, and the last 2 (including me) took like 5 minutes. I don't know what the reason was for the long wait, but I finally heard that my condition is fine and I'm good to immigrate.

So in total it was 4.5 hours of the medical exam and the results won't be in time for the interview, because my interview is scheduled on the 30th of June at 10:30am, so they told me they would send it to the embassy directly around 11am on the 30th.

From what I heard, they were allowed to give only 1 envelope per day, so they found a person who could pick it up themselves and everyone else's results would be sent directly to the embassy.

As for interviews in Kyiv people had them on the 30th,1st, and some other dates but all were relatively soon. I believe they resumed work at a pretty good pace.

Thanks for the info! We have also received an interview letter. Have our interview scheduled on July 28th.

Have they asked you for your vaccination records?

Is it an expedited case?

So.. just like many others I imagine my husband has been made redundant effective august 18. This means he’ll have to go back to the States to provide for our family as we have 2 little ones.

i was thinking of applying for expedite for emotional reasons (little ones being with only 1 parent).

I am wondering if it would be wise to inform nvc/embassy of my husbands unemployment so close to our interview date? Are we better off to keep our mouths shut before we risk having our interview denied?

We have enough money to last us a year both being unemployed, but how much Cash does NVC deem as enough to provide as evidence that we will be able to support ourselves?

Thanks ☺️

Honestly I believe your best bet will be if your husband requests the expedite for financial hardship, since he would have to support two households if you and the kids cannot move with him. But that’s only my personal opinion and no professional advise :)

From your description it sounds like he can sponsor the family based on cash assets instead of income.

I don’t think it’s possible/advisable to hide an unemployment fact from the embassy at the interview.

If cash/assets are not enough, it would probably be recommended to find a joint sponsor just in case.

Sorry forgot to add and cannot edit my post anymore. Poverty guidelines (aka minimum income requirements) can be found here:

https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p
and here are some guidelines on the public charge policy, which also explain assets in lieu of income: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-g-chapter-9

Looks like it’s 5 times the 125% above poverty line.

Have you considered that your husband leaves first and finds a job so he can qualify easily via income?

Per notice letter he is not allowed to start a new job until august 19. We are also flying to the states this Tuesday so its pretty close. If we go down this route we will know whether or not we are approved while we are at the aiport.

Yes, they check you immunization card and tell you if you need to do any extra vaccinations, you can do that pretty much same day in the clinic I recall they told someone that but only after 4pm and that didn't work for them.

Also you would need to pass measles titre test so make sure to have measles vaccine done before it. Mine turned out negative so I needed to send them the certificate about newly received vaccine I did this Thursday or I could do it in their clinic if I was from Kyiv. Still waiting on what medical result would be.

Now I’m very confused. What are you going to find out at the Airport? You are traveling on a tourist visa, correct? Or do you already have an immigrant visa and I misread everything? Without the immigrant visa you cannot migrate to the US but I assume that’s clear :)
