Another good guy flick is "Children of Men". Great story, awesome battle scene.

That was very impressive - especially when you realise it was all done in one continuous shot.

Didn't anyone else think that movie was a little...em...derivative??

What did you guys think about the third Pirates movie? I was really let down by it, I wish they'd stopped at the first. :(

We thought it sucked.. all but the doldrums scene.. that was cool with the crabs.. but the charector development hasn't been consistant throughout and the role they gave Johnny in this one (*sigh I love that man), was rubbish.

In that sense the story was a pretty generic chase story. Didn't really offer anything that would qualify as 'hard' science fiction as ideas go. Well made though - for all that.

There was a Russian movie, Russian Ark, that was filmed entirely in one shot. It was set in the Hermitage Museum and went through diffrent time periods of Russian history.

They had one day to do it all and they managed to get it all in one take. Of course, they spend something like 9 months planning everything.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Hitchcock tried that for a while. If you've ever seen Rope (which is a very good movie BTW) that is filmed in a series of 10 minute takes. There are cuts - but they're pretty discreet.

I think he got frustrated with that approach because it was ultimately expensive in terms of time and burning through the reels if someone made a mistake. Sometimes I wonder if part of the reason his movies are so edgy is because everyone on the set was on edge expecting an explosion from the director if any of them made a mistake.

I like that movie a lot - to the extent that I bought the $40 3-disc DVD.

I watched "Notes on a Scandal" last week and I liked it a lot. That, and "Babel". Both of them star Cate Blanchett coincidentally.

I like Notes on a Scandal a lot - Judy Dench was fantastic as the bitter old #######.

For some reason watching Babel the only thing I could think of during the nanny part was cheech and chong getting themselves deported to Mexico so they could go to a wedding in Born in East LA. It detracted from the emotional impact of that story somewhat.
