what people here are trying to tell you and has been lost in the "free for all" is that the embassy is extremely difficult and more so when the Pakistan person is divorced / muslim marriages that go thru a divorce are not "always" recognized unless the divorce is done thru the Islamic laws

"loves to teach"  has gone thru quite an ordeal and when she speaks of the abusive Moroccan husband ,  she is saying it lightly as we have become acquainted and her story is sad but i can't say it as that is her story

but to say a person with a MS degree may have done a text divorce is not helping the OP

we should all just try to help the person who posts and not judge others who may or may not have good ideas

but she is going thru the same embassy and the CO there questioned the validity of the Pakistan divorce (even though the exwife wrote to say it was real) so listen and if it helps ,  use the information to guide you

That is helpful to the OP.  Who was not the person who suggested it was a text divorce.

i do know and sorry i did not say it that way

just think we need to pay attention to the OP and try to help if we can

the other comment did nothing to help

you all know these embassies are difficult but we need to explain at times what the CO sees as an issue and it was the Pakistan divorce

so it could be an issue to the New OP

They are more interested in the divorce than the marriage that preceded it.

At times in places like Pakistan there is a caviler approach towards divorce since one can remarry a second spouse whether they are formally  divorced from the first one or not.  A major review in the vetting process is validity of the marriage that is the basis of the eligibility for the benefit.

SO:  To avoid any issues clearly document formal termination dates of previous marriages leading up to your current one.

I suspect that earlier poster is leaving something out and that something is a discrepancy with termination of previous marriages prior to her current one.  Maybe he divorced one of his wives by text or something.

Thank you, this is very helpful

Does this give him an edge in immigration process?

No.  But it may simplify the background checks, which are a huge nightmare for Pakistan due to their inadequate criminal record-keeping.

Bene has 2 divorces in a Pakistan

loves to teach told you her husband had 1 divorce and the CO did not believe divorce

so you asked for advice from someone who had gone thru it and got pretty good answer

this is about all the VJ community can help with as it will be a decision made in the embassy and depends so much on the amount of quality time you 2 have together and other factors deemed to be the cultural norm for Pakistan

best to you

and we do try to help but sometimes the answers aren't what you want to hear

just don't give up

there are others who go thru several years of this process and when successful,  they say it was worth it
