That's really why there's a lot of mediocrity in politics. Nothing will change I think until people get really fed up, to the extent that they'll start becoming politically active themselves instead of relying on these party types to keep promises they had no intention of keeping to begin with.

With approval ratings is the low 20's I would say that people are getting "fed up" with congress.

True - but I think ultimately there's too much apathy for even the approval ratings to make much of a difference. People still trust these greasy ex-lawyers to do right by them, but they invariably fail to do so.

Ideally I'd hope that people get angry enough about an issue like illegal immigration to actually ask tough questions of the people that want their vote. Too little of that goes in IMO.

You can count me as one that is angry enough.

That might make the next election somewhat interesting.

finally a bill that makes it a felony to knowingly break the law. don't let some(you know who you are.."the amnesty for all / its a political issue clan") of the canada board know. they'll get up on their soap boxes & call you unamerican for supporting the law.

Not even remotely close to being true, but whatever gets you through the day! :)

Seriously.

Did I post this correctly? I'm new. The quote button didn't seem to work for me. How do I do that?

I think most democtratic politicians are pro-amnesty because they are afraid of losing the minority vote of Mexican- Americans. Hillary Clinton has suggested that she does not want English to be the official language because she wants to keep Spanish on the ballots.

i doubt is it passes..and if so, bush veto it

Vetos can be overridden.

nah, not by the dems..they will not support it.........

Dems are pro-amnesty?

It's all good and well, but they are forgetting one thing.

Mexicans don't vote.

Mexicans don't vote.

They do in Texas.

The Democrats in the Texas state legislature fought tooth and nail to defeat laws to require valid eligibility ID for voter registration and to present a valid government issued ID to vote at the polls. Apparently voter registration and identification should be on the honor system as far as these looney Democratic politicians are concerned...especially if it benefits the pro-illegal amnesty laden Democratic party that is likely to get Mexican votes. It's harder to get a Texas driver's license or buy a gun than it is to vote for President of the USA in a Texas voting booth. Couple that with the en Español ballots, a very large population of legal & illegal citizens of Mexico, and there is a very high probability that Mexicans do vote in US elections at the Texas polls. I have no doubt.

I have been an independent non-party affiliated voter all my life and that just plain pisses me off. These Democrats in the Texas legislature are traitors and should be shot for treason. They are more interested in crooked votes to benefit themselves than the integrity of the process ensuring honest elections.

One ineligible vote cast effectively voids the vote of a qualified voter.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
