Hi

My BF would like to come visit from the DR. We are considering either a tourist visa or a student visa. He would like to take and accelerated English course at the local college. I called and they said he would be able to take it part time under a B2 visa or full time under a F1 visa.

The program is not too expensive and I would provide sponsorship for the student visa. What type of income is sufficient to demonstrate for support? Paystubs? Taxes? Credit cards? I have a good job and have decent amount of money coming in however I have medical loans, 4 kids, two houses and cars that have a lot of that money going out. He could stay will me during the short time so housing would not be an issue.

Which Visa would be more sure and also more beneficial to him?

TIA

He will have a very hard time getting a nonimmigrant visa of any type, IMHO.

There is no sponsorship for B visas.

Much better that he shows he can pay his own way.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Neither would he “more sure”. They would both face the same problem of overcoming immigrant intent, especially as he will be staying with you.

Thanks I appreciate the information!
