Average time from NOA2 to America?

Hey all,

I've been trying to find a sub on here that talks about the average days between NOA2 and getting the k1 visa. In other words, how many days (on average) after NOA2, fiance's are allowed to fly into USA. I've seen some estimated timelines for all the steps but am looking for an estimation for the whole process.

Thanks!

It depends on several things. What country is your fiance located in? How fast you can schedule medical and interviews and anything else you might have to do. Some countries have additional requirements.

This year, with the pandemic we have huge delays because NVC is not sending petitions to the embassies. Interviews are not taking place and visas are not being issued.

Yes, I know it is highly dependent on the case. With that being said, I am still trying to get a rough average for past cases (before covid). Basically so I can use this as a starting point.

My fiance is going to come stay in US starting next month, until interviews are available. This info will help us out knowing at the BARE minimum it will be X amount of days.

I tried looking in past NOA2 threads but was having trouble.

If anyone has any numbers for past cases this would be great

In 2018, we filed the petition on Feb 1 and got married on Oct 21, which was 5 days after POE.  Our process was much faster than many at the time, as Auckland had zero wait times for interviews, and our approved petition was lightning quick in getting to the consulate from NVC.  Would have been even a month faster, but my husband had to wrap things up before flying over.

Sorry, misread your post!  His medical and interview were about a months after the petition was approved, he received the visa about a week after that, and then arrived here the next month.

Hi. My husband is Thai, and we filed for K-1 in 2016 so not exactly current. But it took 70 days from receiving NOA-2 to being approved for the visa. It took longer than expected for the file to be transferred from NVC to the embassy, but once the file was received, things moved very, very quickly. After visa approval, actually getting the visa in hand is very fast too...in our case 2 days. Once the visa is hand, the visa holder may enter the US. In our case, NOA-2 to US arrival was 96 days.

Please create your timeline so we here at VJ can be as accurate as possible. This will help others in the future who are looking at wait times as well.

Your best bet is to compare yourself with other people from Thailand as every embassy has different requirements, number of appointments they take, more closures than others, etc. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?op6=All&op7=Thailand&dfile=No&op1=&op2=&op3=&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C10%2C11%2C13%2C14%2C15%2C16%2C17%2C18%2C20%2C21%2C22%2C25%2C26%2C27%2C28&cfl=0 Another reason to update your timeline :)

Ya this year is tough my stuff is still nvc since May 3 I have a case number but still has not been sent over to Manila but some stuff is opening up june 1 with embassy to follow hopefully shortly after. I heard Manila is pretty fast on the interview stage but covid Definitely  threw a wrench into that

Impossible to predict as the applicant sets the schedule.

YMMV
