Involving Congressman or woman can be helpful. In my case, I was asked to add an affidavit of support from another individual when I had substantial assets and income well over the minimum required. The requirement was removed after a letter from my local congress woman. I suggest if you think a request is unreasonable and you have satisfied all requirements, definitely approach your congress person to intervene.

I think it’s a great move. Our local politicians have helped us anytime we had a question during the process.

I will wait a couple more months and if there’s no changes with my case then I will contact a senator/congressman

I asked my repetitiveness (House and Senate) for help trying to get my wife's case transferred. I was getting the runaround from NVC and the Guangzhou consulate. Within 3 days they got the same canned response from both. They pressed harder and was able to get the case transferred and interview setup very quickly.     

 

Your situation is different from ours but I don't think it will hurt at all if you ask them for help. 

 

Contacted my Rep's for help: Feb. 5, 2020 - Rep contacted Guangzhou & Tokyo. 

Response 1: Feb. 11, 2020 - Guangzhou gave copy/paste info to my Rep's office.

Response 2: Feb. 18, 2020 - Tokyo Embassy - Requested transfer fm China - Case in Administrative Processing 

Response 3: Feb. 21, 2020 - Transfer complete; New interview scheduled.

More reason to try and contact them. The Reps are there for the people.  Sometimes they can shake things loose. 😃

I wouldn't wait another day.   You are in the US with no legal status or proof of nationality.

Technically I’m a permanent resident and I have my birth certificate and 18 months extension letter— doesn’t that account for something)

No it's not a bad thing. The case was assigned to a country a wife doesn't live. Then we got the run around trying to fix it.

 

If your case is stuck and you can't get information your Reps should be able to help. It was quite easy to contact them and the Reps office responded pretty quick. It won't hurt to at least try.

Not true at all about senators. The immigration liaison at out senator's office helped us tremendously when our case was stuck at the NVC and then again when my husband was stuck in AP(back then everyone did not go through AP).

I-751. No updates besides biometrics for 14 months. Contacted the senator's office and submitted an expedite request through them. Took 5 days for the expedite request to get approved by the USCIS and case was assigned to a different officer for review. 2 Days later, case status changed to 'Approved'.
