From everything i have read on here a Congressman (Representative or Senator) can not really help a case

when they inquire, they get the same messages you have gotten -like working on your case and some may take longer than others

however,  you can try,  it does not adversly affect the outcome -just sign a release form-they do not see the case -they just get a response on it -like i said the same letter or email from immigration that you have gotten

I’ll just wait couple more months before I involve a senator or congressman

It is best first reach out to the USCIS ombudsman's office.   You can reach out to the congressman or senators office.  They will need a release to be involved. I have found they are really good at getting (more detailed) information on refusals from consulates but not so much anything else.

I was looking for them, just wanted to make sure they were checking official stats, I've seen people quite VJ times before.

Actually for your case I would go to your congressman's district office, if they are open, since you have an issue about not having a green card or passport as they were taken by your husband.

You should just keep all of your questions in your other thread since it is all related.

There’s no way for me to proof he took it— I don’t have physical proof sadly. I’m just going to wait until I hear back to make a decision whether to involve congressman— I was just thinking in advance. By the way, do you have any idea why a case might be transferred to NBC?

Generally they want you to go through USCIS or a senator directly before the ombudsman.

No harm in asking for an update on your case.

I’m sure they do since ombudsman enquiries are usually recordable against them, complaints wise, where as going to USCIS directly (without a response) or going via a congressman isn’t generally tracked as a negative against the awesome service to which USCIS provide. 😁

AOS Journey

  • I-485 etc filed 23 April 2020

I was more referring to them referring you to go through USCIS first or else they may not provide assistance.
