Good choice. The fees are also being raised on October 2nd, from $640 to $1160. You just saved yourself ~$500. 😁

I saw that today too! I'm glad I didn't keep procrastinating. Not that it was procrastinating per-se but rather a well thought out process to go from GC to dual. lol.

Yes it did actually, people reported seeing their estimated case completion times change every time they logged in and everytime they refreshed the page, this was all due to the maintenance. That's why there were so many reports about those changes. 

Interesting, I just checked and it’s down to 9 months, still 2 months more than it was before, but I guess you were right!  Thanks for the info!

Don’t be, with everything that’s going on with the pandemic, talks of furlough, government bailout (which isn’t looking promising), it’s going to be quite a waiting game at this point, just be mentally prepared... not like it’s going to be approved in time for this year's  elections anyway...

i just worried about not getting citizenship on time, then when one day i leave the country for a holiday, and I will be prevent from coming back from changes in law...

Can we file 2 days early to save some money.. .. any advice

I wouldn’t do that if I were you... but I may be wrong, hopefully others with more experience can advice better

I believe if you still have an active green card you shouldn’t have to worry about that, if it’s expiring though, then you might need to apply for a renewal, and get an extension before traveling...no new law would prevent legal permanent residents from entering the country after an overseas trip... my two cents

It seems all up in the air with everything and could shift again after the election. It’s Unfortunate that expedited processing doesn’t exist. But it’s all weird - I looked into the timelines here for my local office and some people who filed as recently as dec 2019 have had their interview. Others had been waiting more than a year longer. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I am assuming it’s going to be a multi year wait.

Why would 2 days early save $$? Costs go up in October, but I haven’t heard of in August? 
 

if you aren’t eligible to apply you may be rejected, I read about someone (on here) who had issues when they applied early in the day they were eligible ~2:30am and they were denied due to it not being the right date in all states. Of course others didn’t have that happen and I think s/he appealed successfully but what a Headache.

Yeah, Seattle, when I was initially eligible was 6-12 months. A few weeks ago it was 12.5--36 months and most recently it was 16-24 months. Since I just submitted I guess next week I"ll be given a more accurate update of my application's processing time.

👋 Fellow Canadian and I had no idea they were raising prices so I'm so glad I did it when I did too!
