I was wondering this too - my biometrics reuse is in my account as of today. So I’m curious if that means movement or at least that my application is with the local office. I’m in Seattle which has a looooong processing time right now.

It usually takes 4-8 weeks.  But the recent Bio reuse letter a lot of people receive appear to be a policy change from The executive order President Biden signed on Feb 2nd. It directed departments to “substantially reduce current naturalization processing times”.

There are people receive Biometric Reuse letter 9 days after the they filed this month Feb 2021.

So I don’t think the timeline reference under trump admin is still as relevant as it was.

Excerpt from the Biden Immigration Executive order.

Sec. 5.  Promoting Naturalization. (a)  Improving the naturalization process.  The Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, within 60 days of the date of this order, develop a plan describing any agency actions, in furtherance of the policy set forth in section 1 of this order, that they will take to:

(i)    eliminate barriers in and otherwise improve the existing naturalization process, including by conducting a comprehensive review of that process with particular emphasis on the N-400 application, fingerprinting, background and security checks, interviews, civics and English language tests, and the oath of allegiance;

(ii)   substantially reduce current naturalization processing times;

(iii)  make the naturalization process more accessible to all eligible individuals, including through a potential reduction of the naturalization fee and restoration of the fee waiver process;

(iv)   facilitate naturalization for eligible candidates born abroad and members of the military, in consultation with the Department of Defense; and

(v)    review policies and practices regarding denaturalization and passport revocation to ensure that these authorities are not used excessively or inappropriately.

(b)  Implementing improvements to the naturalization process.  Within 180 days of the issuance of the plan developed pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall each submit a report to the President describing the progress in implementing the plan, any barriers to implementing the plan, and any additional areas of concern that should be addressed to ensure that eligible individuals are able to apply for naturalization in a fair and efficient manner.

(c)  Strategy to promote naturalization.  There is established an Interagency Working Group on Promoting Naturalization (Naturalization Working Group) to develop a national strategy to promote naturalization.  The Naturalization Working Group shall be chaired by the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Secretary’s designee, and it shall include the heads of the following agencies, or senior-level officials designated by the head of each agency:

(i)    the Secretary of Labor;

(ii)   the Secretary of Health and Human Services;

(iii)  the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development;

(iv)   the Secretary of Education;

(v)    the Secretary of Homeland Security;

(vi)   the Commissioner of Social Security; and

(vii)  the heads of other agencies invited to participate by the Working Group chair.

(d)  Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Naturalization Working Group shall submit a strategy to the President outlining steps the Federal Government should take to promote naturalization, including the potential development of a public awareness campaign.

Hi @Timona, I haven't received any email yet but hoping they will process soon mine as well. Thanks for the update.

I belive it is to do with biometrics as well.

@dhaval25

So I studied the bio reuse trend for the last month (this is just my analysis. It may or may not be 100% accurate). Anyway, it seems USCIS sends them Fridays morning. So fingers crossed you're on the next batch. I didn't know about mine till someone informed me to check for any USCIS email sent out this morning. So I checked my email and found the USCIS email. Mine was issued today.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Oh that's great analysis. I just told my wife keep the finger crossed. I should receive mine in a week or two. Best wishes. I am sure you started preparing for your test.

Haha I'm fairly out of school. You know how it goes with test preps, right? 😏

Got an email notice stating that USCIS "has taken an action on my case". I don't know what it is. I'll have to wait like 2-3 days maybe to read it as it's currently not showing up on my account. Since I haven't yet had biometrics, I suspect it's something to do with it.

@dhaval25 read this. Hope you're on the same page too.

Fill time-line, people

Looks like the data got messed with again. The wrong username is associated with my data.

Anyway, the estimated case completion date for my case got changed back from May 2021 to March 2021.

Hahaha just correct your own part on the data sheet. I hope the rest will revisit and rectify.

I just don't know why it keeps getting messed up.

My completion time jumped back to September 2021 from April 2021. I'll just wait to see how it plays out. I'll update my record on the spreadsheet  as soon as I get to a computer

Afternoon all. Quick update on my process. Received the notice that my interview has been scheduled on 03/26/2021.

I was at some point in removal process as my attorney sent out my stuff a little too late, but then request to terminate removal process has been granted after my marriage has been approved. So will see if this will be an issue on interview.

Timeframe:

06/2021 - Applied for i-751

06/2021 - Filled N-400 while i-751 pending

08/2021 - Received Biometric reuse notice

11/2021 - i-751 approved, received second green card

02/2021 - Received notice that interview is scheduled for 03/26/2021

Good luck to all!

I submitted my N-400 application at the very end of June.

I received a receipt July 1 2020 nad have heard NOTHING since.  I see that a lot of people have estimated completion dates on their USCIS profile.  Mine currently says

Estimated wait time:

We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time.

There is no date any longer...I am slightly worried at this point that I have no update and now no estimated completion date.

Secondly does the IOE number mean that there isn't a way to see the projected wait time like there is with physical centers?

Thanks,

Nothing to be worried about, some people wait for months while others wait for years, it's unfortunately how it is. And now since the lockdown cases are not being worked on in the right order anymore, so you're likely to see people who filed both before and after you getting biometrics apppintments/reuse before you. Many of us have tried to contact USCIS via the online account, some had luck and received appointments, others didn't.

All of us have been through periods of having no estimated completion time, it automatically goes away when it takes longer than expected. The estimation is also not correct whatsoever, it keeps changing throughout the process, so even if you had one it would still be completely useless. That's considered normal these days, so that's also nothing to worry about.

IOE only means that the N-400 form is avaliable for online filing (your receipt number starts with IOE no matter if you actually filed online or not). All N-400 (and other petitions as well) are being pre-processed at NBC as they require an interview. NBC is the service center that prepares cases for interview. Once your local ASC is ready to schedule you for a biometrics appointment (or if they decide to reuse your old biometrics) NBC will do background and security checks on you. Once NBC is done, yiur case will sit there until your local field office is ready to schedule you for an interview. This can take days, months or even years - all depending on how slow or fast your field office is. It differs A LOT between field offices across the country.
